This problem is not just isolated to the Falcon.I work in the brake and clutch industry and brake problem amongst new vehicles is on the increase. Harasn comment is valid. This technical page may help http://www.dba.com.au/tech/tech01.asp

The cause of the shudder is possibly from not using the brakes enough with the brake pads just kissing the disc while travelling down the road at high way speed. Of those of you that have the brake shudder problem, have a think if you do alot of highway driving. Bet you do!

that's interesting information there Harasn. We just had our brakes re-machined on the XR6 at 13,000 kays(noticed the problem was getting worse and worse). For the record the dealer didn't complain or whinge about it and, immediatly accepted the problem and fixed it. It will be interesting to see if the problem comes back.

Your explanation Harasn makes alot of sence to me. Our XR6 does spend alot of its time highway driving and I feel that we are generally pretty light users on the brakes. Perhaps I should start braking harder.

I too have had this problem and was told the first machining is free next I'll be paying for it. It is clear to me if they continually warp they are inadequate for the 1.8t car and I'll be expecting adequate brakes to be fitted at NO extra cost.

It will be interesting NT TURBO to see if this problem comes back. If it happens again we will certainly not be paying to have it fixed. Lets hope Ford finds a fix to this real soon.

yep I agree, there is no way we should have to foot the bill for the machining of our brakes so early in our cars life, they should last longer than the brake pads u would think. the dealer I went to were trying to pretend they havent heard of the front brakes shuddering. when I dropped the car off I even asked one of the guys if they have had many cars come in with the same problem and he said he hadnt seen many at all.bullsh*t if u ask me.

I had my car in for warranty work the other day and they tried to charge me for the machining of the front disks

that's really poor!

Our Daewoo had a similar problem. Firts up macjine, then replace rotors...all at no charge and they didnt EVER mention cost. :D They just gave me the keys and said this is what we have done, any further probs let us know. Maybe Ford should send their service guys to the Daewoo service management training course

They should send them somewhere, ahh, I don't know, Hell maybe?
