This is ridiculous !!

As I have said on many occasions, each time you get into a car you are responsible for how you drive it. This also goes for how you avoid collisions.

The operative word being 'defensive' driving. If you drive around expecting people to drive the same as you then you live in Utopia or are happy with an overgoverned country such as we have.

Every car on the road is a potential collision and it is imperative to drive with that mind. In all of the years that I have been driving at very high speed on public roads the only time I have had a collision was on my motorbike (the one that made an absolute mess of me )

The secret is driving defensively, not aggressively.

I certainly don't change the rules to suit myself. When I am at work and executing my duty, I am exempt from the Road Rules under ARR 305. That doesn't exculpate me from my responsibility if I am being negligent (such as driving through Red lights without stopping etc)

When I am off duty, I drive the same as every other citizen (that means I should be given the same tolerance that I give others)

Driving against the Road Rules is one of the hardest things a driver can do, as you ahve changing road conditions, oncoming/side entry traffic, numerous obstacles, inconsiderate drivers/pedestrians and loose animals.

I still haven't seen the video (it still doesn't interest me because it's Jap stuff) but from what I can gather, any sort of car can be driven in a similar fashion.

Even Suzuki Mighty Boy's (one strapped to each foot) will still do some heli's in a gravel carpark.

If people accepted their own responsibility then there wouldn;t be a need for some of the crap legislation that is imposed by the social engineers in the State A.L.P governments

(Stupid offences such as consuming an alcoholic beverage in a car even though you are not over the .05 limit, 50kmh USL as well as 40kmh School Zones on roads which are normally 3 lane 80kmh major routes, 'Duty of Care' lawsuits such as those against local Councils by drunken swimmers/Publicans that serve drunks alcohol, and the ultimate insult such as the supply of free hypodermic syringes to illegal drug users and making legitimate needle users such as diabetics have to pay for them!!!

Having previously spent the better part of 2 &1/2 hours being cut out of car that was hit by someone doing pretty much the same thing as shown in the videos I really haven’t got much time for the “it’s a performance car…it meant to driven in like that” argument

Fair enough and I can understand your point of view as I have also seen many people cut out of damaged cars........certainly not a pretty sight............though please do not blame high performance cars and experienced drivers for all of these road accidents as many accidents are caused through lack of concentration, fatigue, and sheer driver inexperience. :(

Have a good day and drive safely.

My apologies and I agree entirely as the driving was far too slow and therefore the driver lacks total concentration with the task at hand through sheer boredom.........in addition tyres don't generate sufficent temperture for maximum road grip.

Never drive a performance car like a performance car as it's irresponsible!

Nice…while it’s clearly unlikely that you’ll be modifying you driving habits lets hope that if you’re involved an accident due to your own dangerous driving that no one else is involved…. and if you have the misfortune to be involved in an accident due to someone else’s stupidity that you remember that real…it’s ok, ‘cause you know it’s a performance car…

I think you’ll find that I haven’t actually criticized performance cars….I bought the XR6 because of it’s performance, and the potential it holds for increased performance…If a car (performance or otherwise) is driven irresponsibly it’s most definitely not down to the car, it wholly and solely the driver…..that’s certainly the case in the vids in question……

Hmmm interesting ….so tell me, exactly how it is I would have used my defensive driving techniques to avoid being cleaned up by the chap who came round the blind corner (with a posted speed of 65k’s) doing, they estimate, about 95ks on the wrong side of the road…I’m just not clear…should I have driven off the side of the cliff to my left…. or into the oncoming car the chap was trying to overtake in the other lane?

If you don’t like it don’t read it…but if you do and you don’t like what you read at least try and come up with something a little better than that…if it’s not too much of an intellectual stretch that is.....
