It is with a heavy heart that I have to inform the forum community that my BA Ford Falcon XR6 Turbo, affectionately known as "BOOF", is dead. :idunno::idunno:

After work on Thursday morning at 3:15am Boof was involved in a 1/1000000 bizarre incident. Whilst traveling down Glenhuntly rd in Glenhuntly, at 61kmph, a metal plate that covers switches for the trams has become dislodged. The metal plate weighs about 30-40kg and is in the shape of a triangle, it is about 40cm on its longest edge. The plate has got jammed between the car and the road and at one stage lifted the car over 30 cm's off the road. The plate has gouged the floor from under the right hand drivers seat rail to under the back seat. The back floor has been lifted about 10cm. It has damged the sill of the car and caused both drivers side doors to be out of alignment. There is also a little crease just in front of the back wheel. There is also a big split in the side skirt. When it happened I thought a bomb had gone off under the car.

AAMI today told me that the car was a right-off. I had spoken to a panel beater and was prepared for the news. Even so it still made me sad. It makes it even harder to accept with the fact that "boof" still drives perfectly. The damage hasn't affected the cars performance or handling. The only difference when driving is the wind noise coming in through the gaps in the doors.

I'll post some pitures latter but theres not much to see, if I drove past you on the road you wouldn't know the "boof" was a right-off.

I will be looking at different options to replace "boof", at the moment "boof 2" is the popular choice.

Geea :glad:

Geea, That is the most bizarre story I have heard. Black cat, broken mirror, walked under a ladder - what on earth did you do to deserve bad luck like that.

All the best in finding BOOF mark 2.
