HSV GTS:

0-100km/h: 5.24s

0-400m: 13.36s (177.8km/h)

0-1000: 23.83s (231.5 km/h)

Top speed: 275km/h

Winton lap: 1m 43.44s

XR6T:

0-100km/h: 6.24s

0-400m: 14.35s (160.2km/h)

0-1000: 25.90s (202.2 km/h)

Top speed: 234km/h (speed limited)

Winton lap: 1m 46.28s

I'm far from a racetrack expert so correct me if I'm wrong but the T lapped Winton within 3 seconds of the GTS. Considering the potential 41km/h difference in top speeds due to the speed limiter, (I still can't believe the number of posts on other boards relating to how much better the Holdens are because the T has a "slow" top speed) then surely these times are a great reflection on the handling characteristics and out of corner acceleration abilities of the XR6.

I cannot wait to feel that effortless torque.

Guys,

Checked the latest MOTOR magazine for the PCOTY results. The X6T comes in at a decent 3rd, only eclipsed by the Merc SL55 AMG and the Boxer S, both vastly more expensive cars.

Fantastic review really, only real negative issues regard the manual gearbox, and the light steering (both problems I can personally live with). It would have been interesting to have the SSS version also reviewed, but perhaps another time.

Also available is the PCOTY video, I've already put my order in. Hopefully it show in deal the XR6T getting put through its paces.

I think a loud CHEERS in order

Superoo,

I might be getting my facts wrong too but I don't think the GTS would have got anywhere near it's top speed at Winton so I don't think this is a factor. I haven't read the article but I'm dissapointed that the XR6T is slower than all of the Expensive Daewoo products. We consider it to be a better handling car than the Expensive Daewoo and rave about it's torque delivery so why is it slower? Gear ratios might make some difference but it seems the weight has alot to do with it. It must take more to haul up an XR6T when braking into corners - I wonder if the test car had premium brakes although this wouldn't affect things too much on a 1 - 2 lap sprint. I hate the fact that it's slower than the SV8 but if Garth was at the helm he probably slowed down in the Falcon!

Having read Motor last night the key out takes were the reasons the cars were whittled down to the final 3.

The SV8 and GTS could not hack the pace and being driven hard. The ford got a serious thumbs up for going again and again.

Who wants a piece of Expensive Daewoo junk which may be a pootennth quicker and then pisses steering fluid all over your driveway?

Great cars are not just about speed.
