OK. pill taken :censored:

I have never heard that term used before, at least I know now, BUT I won't be using it, lol.

I just can't work out how that name came to be, considering when I purchased my car, the turbo was only 3K more, not much difference in price really.

Sorry all, I had a cu*&^%*&t of a day at work, and I read it when I got home so I was already pretty crabby, but hey I had my TAX done and now I am over the moon. Could have got the Turbo and PH 1 if I was buying my car tomorrow. :smilielol:

Heeyyyy!

Apologies to all XR6 owners, I did not mean any offense. I feel I did not explain myself clearly. Allow me to correct that:

I AM GOING TO GET AN XR6 NON TURBO, BECAUSE I LIKE IT.

I retract my previous statement re XR6 and male fiscal deficiency.

I was just asking for opinions on the matter, particularly WRT the XR6 n/a vs the SR on a value for money basis. Resale doesn't mean Jack to me as I will not own it - it will be a company car. Purchase price does matter, as It will be salary packaged. After 2-3 years, I hand it back (usually worn out and/or broken) and ask for a new one.

Since I first posted I have spoken to some Ford fleet sales reps. They made it quite clear that they did not want to sell me an SR, and adjusted the fleet discounts accordingly (SR is not eligible for factory fleet discount aparently). Thus as there is less than $1000 difference in price (as quoted), I will definately be getting the XR6.

I ranked the options in order of importance to me, and these are the ones I can afford:

LSD (because TC sux, IMHO)

Rear power windows (I have young kids & I am a control freak)

Window tinting (I am also shy)

These ones missed out:

Towbar (my other car has one)

Premium sound (nice, but HOW MUCH??!!??)

Leather (easier to clean)

Sunroof (umm ... they look good)

Thanks for all the feedback and sorry for causing any aggro.

...now to choose the colour ...

I have said this so many times, Without the turbo all you have is the XR6 so apart from power there ain't no difference. Anyway it is still a muscle car to me my N/A beats Monaros and SS off the line everytime.

What stopped me from buyinf the Turbo, because if you are under 25, and have had a suspended license in QLD, you find it near impossible to insure a car. So if I wanted the turbo, I still couldn't have had it. Anyway my reason to by the XR6 n/a

, was because after the warranty is up, I will have her SUPERCHARGED, something I have always wanted to do, supercharge a great FORD, nothing wrong with Turbos, just that I like Supercharges. That should give me more power than I need, with my other planed mods, I will have atleast 430kw at the FLy, nothing to scoff at I say. NA THUNDER will back me up on this.

Anyway I just get sick of people running down the XR6, jesus, with out the R & D on the six cylinder, the turbo concept would never have happened, anyway I haven't found a reason in this forum to get sh*tty before, but now I find people bagging what is a great car, so what it doesn't have the freaking turbo component, it wasn't money that stopped me, but the bloody regulations put on people of different age groups. KINDA sucks when a 4ft chinnesse person can buy a big car like the camary, cause an accident, and still be allowed to buy another one, when I can't just because there are a few HOONS out there who haven't learnt to drive yet. Anyway just my MONDAY b**ch session. But please stop putting sh*t on the N/A XR6. :gooff:

Mate, The xr6 without the turbo is still a great car, the beef is with Ford amd I am sure most peope will agree, Ford should have given the XR6 na another 20kw or made the std falcons 10 kws less powerfull. Up untill the Ba range the fairmont and xr6`s were more powerfull than the std falcons. But the most important thing is that if your happy with you NA , that's all that matters. And is still better than the SR hands town.

T actually has a few more options including better diff + exhaust, rear pwr windows, traction control as standard and a nice 'Turbo' badge. I was thinking of the NA, but when I weighed it all up the T is a steal considering its performance and potential performance :welcome2:

Yes, Steve is right, not even taking into account these extras an extra $5K for a turbo is a bargain. As others have found you can't do a (decent) aftermarket turbo or supercharger setup on a n/a for this sort of money.

Insurance could be more for XR6 than a SR, though this is most likely included in the price if you lease the car.

MkII BA XR6 n/a come with rear power windows standard.

XR6 NA is an Awesome car, and in the Mark II is going to be even more AWESOME with rear power windows etc. etc.

For me the next machine will either have to be a BA XLS ute or an BA XR6 NA, mostly like the XLS due to the sh*tty roads ive become use to lately.
