After a recent trip to Melbourne I was driving at speed (over 140) in the wet and the wipers were skipping badly. On every car I have owned (post 1980) they have had a small wing on the wiper arms, but for some stupid reason the XR does not have this feature. I really do not want to go to the parts store and buy an ugly 3 slatted clipon arm, like I had on my 1971 charger, I think Ford should offer a retro fit recall as this is dangerous due to the wipers inability to wipe the windows.

What is ford thinking ? :loc:

I see them on EVERY car including the several Daewoo LAnos fleet cars I own.

Even on the cars with "wiper aids" the wipers won't hold over 140kph. Simply can't.

There is only one word for you if you want to drive over 140kph in the wet ... Rain-X

It is all well and good to say that the speed limit is 110km/h, but I went over this speed overtaking. If our cars are limited to 230km/h then the wipers should work to this speed (or near it). In NT there are unlimited speeds, just because it is wet does not make speeds over 110km/h unsafe. Iam also sure a ferrari or porsche do not suffer from these problems. I have had no problems in the past with my other cars with their wipers skipping (except the charger) as they all had a small wing on the wiper arm. I am also sure the bommadore I rented a few weeks ago also had one and this was a poverty pack.

It is not rocket science to work out this would be a problem in the design phase as I am sure they test the cars in all weather at all speeds and should have picked this up as a problem.

I do not think my demands are unreasonable to ask for wipers that do not skip.

I HAVE driven both Porsches and Ferraris and I can assure you that their wipers DO also lift at about 140kph. I haven't driven ANY car that has wipers that will work above 140kph. Wiper aids or not it doesn't matter. Some wipers lift off at 100kph, like my Capri. I just slow down if I can't see, don't you?
