I have a June 2004 bulid XR6T, and can I say that the manual is fantastic!

I DONT have a problem with any gear changes,

I DONT have any rattles in any gear,

I have VERY minimal driveline clunk. (Although I changed my diff and gearbox oil after I had racked up 1000kms as per WBT56s recommendation)

All in all I LOVE my manual T. I cant wait to take it to the drags. :smilielol:

Hi Ford_Power

I read your other post with the Monaro. Well Done!

What oil did you use in the diff and gearbox? I am thinking of doing the same thing.

Does the Diff and Gearbox have a drain Plug?

Cheers

Likewise, my T5 is just fine. As the words of my mate who has a EB XR6 which also has the T5 in it, "People that winge about the shift quality of the T5 are just pussies!" I Love my T5 and would probably love a T56 more!

Hey XR6T330

Yes, both the gearbox and the diff have a drain plug. On the T5 the drain is an Allen key type plug located on the drivers side near the bottom of the box. The filler plug is located maybe 5-6cms directly above it. (also an Allen key type)

To drain the oil in the diff, simply remove the bottom most bolt from the rear casing - this is the drain plug. The filler plug is a 22mm bolt from memory, and it is located on the drivers side of the diff as well.

I am using Castrol Transmax Z in the the gearbox, and Shell LS90 limited slip diff oil in the diff. It is mineral based, but it is good oil - it did reduce the diff clunk SIGNIFICANTLY. As I was told by WBT56, the diff oil should be inspected after 10000kms and then at shorter intervals if it still ok. For my peace of mind, I will be changing it every 10000kms as I drive the car reasonably hard.

Hi Guys,

I currently don't have any driveline issues with my Feb 03 build XR6T Manual wich has covered 31000kms. It used to have driveline shunt, but was fixed with the engine stall ecu download from Ford at the 30000km service.

My previous car (EBIIXR8) had a T5 manual, and it didn't feel as nice as the T5 fitted to my XR6T. The latter has more precise shift feel and has nice weighting to go with the shift.
