Okay,

Just finished speaking to my next door neighbour who works in a Ford Dealership in Sydney about any more information on the MKII regarding pricing, if and when he could get discounts.

He said he would not be able to give me discount straight away and would probably be a few months at least after release date.

He said he has only been allocated 2 XR6T and 1 XR8 in the 6spd for when they are released (and he is one of the larger dealerships).

Reckons it will be like when the Turbo was first released, Supply and Demand he said.

The thing is I dont think I can wait that long as I am having troubles sleeping NOW and I havent even ordered the bloody thing!

Should I just get a Series 1 Manual and be done with it!

Also would driving a VYSS 6sp (t56) be like driving the 6spd in the MKII. What I mean is I could compare the gearbox in the series 1 with the SS. And if I love the feel of the 6sp in the SS too much over the XR then I will wait for MKII

Sorry for long post

im speaking from experience and I recogn you should wait for the 6speed... I am on my second box and it still has problems... if your desperate get the current one..... make sure you negotiate yourself a sweet deal as the box is absolute crap... there are some who would disagree

but that's just my HO

jetute,

What was the reason for the replacement. What happened. Do you have any mods, ie APS Phase kits. Was it a results of mods etc.

no mods... unless u want to call the xr8 cia a mod.... the first box had a rattle in third which in the endd rattled in all gears... the second box has a rattle in second and is getting worse.... Today ford told me there is no fix for this problem :spoton: WTF... well then why replace the first gearbox??

It's not just the 6 speed that's worth waiting for, its the 3.7 ratio in the diff. On the other hand if your considering an SSS auto instead, the MkII may not hold much advantage with the exception of resale.

I agree with CDAA,

It might be worth considering getting the SSS......I was hesitant at first but you get best of both worlds.........

I also believe that if you get at mid 2004 build XR6T, they have ironed out most of the problems......that all the other problems cars had...

Some reasons to consider getting the BA1 are:

- It is cheaper so you can spend more on on extra goodies.........

- no cosmetic nor motor changes so why spend the extras..........

- getting a 6 speed would be like getting a 2002 new BA1 when it was first released.

You could run into early problems as the 6 speed is the first release......

- 2004 model BA1 (from what I have heard and own myself) are much more reliable than say a 2002 first release models........

- You could be waiting for another 6 months if you are lucky and they release them in Sept...........going by the history, you could be in a waiting queue for nearly 5 months........

Well, that's my point of view anyway...

I agree with Dutchie, :google:

Even though I have only had my T since April I was considering changing from the ute to the sedan so the rest of the family could enjoy the car as much as I do. When weighing up the fors and against with the mods that I have done as compared to the new MK2 the only thing that might interest me was the 6 speed. I don't think that I could go back to the stock performance just so that I could have a 6 speed. I'll think I'll wait another 12 months for new issues to arise and get sorted and continue to increase the performance of my ute. They are also offering pretty good deals to clear stock as well. So with the money you save you can put into getting some performance out of it and I can guarrantee that you won't stop smiling then.

That's my 2c worth what ever your decision you can't really go wrong.

Your buying a great performance car and it's a FORD :w00t2:

happy motoring

The 3.73 is only there to offset the taller ratios. Don't expect great performance, just expect faster gear changes. Which will equate to faster accel times provided there aren't extra changes where previously there weren't. So it may only be a marketing advantage, not a performance one. And the t56 is 20kg heavier so don't expect the BA MkII to get lighter and faster.

I think the savings in the BA1 will outweigh the added resale of Mk2 in auto form. This may not be the case with the manual.

I don't expect there to be any problems with the T56 as this is box has been behind some powerful production engines. But the low down torque may be an issue. I think Ford are well aware of the issues with the T5 and hence why the change was made. How many manuals do they really sell??
