rex13bt Member 38 Member For: 20y 10m 23d Posted 17/08/04 10:25 AM Share Posted 17/08/04 10:25 AM Ask the dealer to check the glycol concentration of the coolant. You can do this accurately with a refractometer (they should have one and know how to use it). You will probably find the concentration is below 33% (unless they have already adjusted it). The corrosion inhibitors used in coolants are formulated to work at a minium of 33% glycol concentration, so if the glycol concentration is below 33% there is not enough corrosion inhibitors present to stop corrosion. XR6_ED Member 1,517 Member For: 21y 8m 12d Posted 17/08/04 11:52 AM Share Posted 17/08/04 11:52 AM at start up and running trans fluid pressure would be greater than coolant pressure.. but engine not running (warm shut down with high coolant pressure)you would have coolant presssure greater than trans pressure resulting in coolant getting into the trans.... If it was mine vik I would get them to drop the trans fluid and flush it....If they dont change the oil get a oil analysis kit and take a sample..post it away and get them to check for water content in the trans fluid
Guest Guests Posted 17/08/04 02:25 PM Share Posted 17/08/04 02:25 PM Yea ,I was wonrering about that side of things..the coolant level did drop a bit,so where did it go ??? in the fcuken trans where else???These useless cnuts at jarvis norwood said they have to check the old radiator first to try and reuse it,rather than fit a new one...like its costing them Me and vovo had a guttfull of that sh!thole, last time for me anyway...vik

Must admit that I didn't think of a connection between the coolant and the transmission fluid.....tricky stuff!Anyway, Vik, don't be shy....try to be a bit self-assertive for a change and insist on your rights to get it fixed the way it should be.
