I spoke to Rob and Ian at HPF (amberley auto's performance arm "Horsepower Factory") and asked if they could have a look at my car before Heathcote this Saturday (14th Aug). Amberley's is a Melbourne agent for Chiptorque. They said to bring it down and we'll check the performance map and check a few things.

I got there today and spoke to Rob, asked him what he had in mind. Rob said that after talking with Marty (Xede tuning guru) that an option would be to close the spark plug gaps a touch and that after doing this we might be able to use a touch more boost. He told me though that it may cause a slightly rougher idle. I said sure lets do it. Rob then reset the gaps on all the plugs and started it up. To be perfectly honest I could notice any difference in the idle but Rob seemed to think it was slightly rougher.

Marty then tuned the car on the dyno for awhile then they went off and did some tuning on the street. Said the car was now about 280rwkw. Rob said that it was running just under 12psi. He said that with the factroy valve springs that was the most they could use. Any more and there was some valve flutter (I think flutter was the word he used).

With my 12psi map the car is tuned to run on 100 octane unleaded. I achieve this by using Optimax and Nulon Pro Strength octane booster. After the retune the car does feel like it has more power.

After talking with Rob and Ian and from what I have read here and heard elsewhere it appears to me that my current power level (on my performance map)is at the limits of the factory valve springs and rods.

I won't know if the car is any quicker or not till after Heathcote.

I must add how happy I have been with the quality of service and workmanship I have experienced with HPF. I strongly recommend that anyone in Melbourne interested in modding their "T" talk to the guys at the HPF before making a final decision on who to do your mods.

If anyone has any questions or observations about this thread please ask and I'll do my best to answer them. :crybaby:

I'll be posting the dyno graph when Rob gets a chance to email it to me.

sh*t George, then you'll have the same as me less the switch with 2 maps. There's going to be a lot of very quick "T's" out there soon with yourself and Macka soon to join the Victorian 12 second club.

I need to talk to Ducatijb. I want to know if I can join the NSW 12 second club aswell if I run a 12 sec 1/4 there too.

Not sure how big the Queensland 12 second club is but maybe I can join Jeff in that one too.

So many plans so little time.

I'll be leaving just after 11am to meet up with Dean then TBO240 and Big Mick. Dean and myself will be staying the night in Bendigo as we are both going back to Heathcote on the Sunday with Deans ute mates. If you wnat to come up it might be an idea to talk with Big Mick as I think he'll be coming back the same night.

Good luck guys , I have a good / jealous feeling that the 11 second club

( street trim ) is soon to be formed :spoton: Even so it would be nice to claim however ya do it

Geea your cars sounds like it is in store for yet another improved time, but mate get them valve springs done soon. I would also watch with interest the Geea national "strip" tour to truly understand the impact of ambient conditions as all other variables would be equal.Hangovers notwithstanding
