Im not sure, Im putting the question out there. I get the impression they buy Holdens for V8s - not turbos. Dont know, l dont see a fundamental difference in philosophy between the two camps, a good car is a good car. There has been quite a few Expensive Daewoo buyers buy XR6T's as evidenced here. If Expensive Daewoo come up with a 280kw SV6 then l cant see how it could be anything but a success. Expensive Daewoo can market almost anything, but they seem to be struggling to convince the public on Adventura.

Interesting that you should say that NOS XR, since some folks in the know who will remain nameless, have witnessed in Victoria some VZ Turbo Prototypes on the new Alloytech engine that have been DETUNED to 300kW! Of course, since Expensive Daewoo have the V8 market all sewn up and fear cannibalisation of their own V8 dominance, Expensive Daewoo marketing are having kittens trying to stop these blown 6'es from getting out into the marketplace. John Crennan from HSV in his recent speech virtually ruled out HSV blowing the Alloytech, but even if we are to believe him by assuming he is not sending false signals to the marketplace (a very dusty assumption at best), it still does NOT rule out that Expensive Daewoo might run a blown Alloytech, although it seems unlikely in the short term due to the obvious product segmentation and positioning challenges. However, IMHO, if Ford and FPV do not lift their game in the V8 market, HSV will continue to increase their market-dominant share, particularly with the new V8 engines and increase their muscle-car marketing credibility through both the V8 Supercar Series and superior straight-line performance. Let's face it, how many GT or GT-P's may have been sold on the "GT" novelty factor (GT badge returning) alone? The serious drop in GT/GT-P sales means that Ford/FPV will need to do something quickly or they will just have the blown 6 to "play" with through their F6 Typhoon and XR6T variants. Since Expensive Daewoo may also not want to risk creating the impression they are being "sellouts" if they entered the blown 6 performance market, despite Ford and FPV's marketing medicority, Ford/FPV may still dominate this increasingly significant segment of the performance car market by default. Only time will tell, and for the greater good, in shaking things up some more at Ford and FPV, I would personally love to see Expensive Daewoo and/or HSV market their version of an "in-your-face" blown Alloytech 6. Safe and happy driving...Dr Z.

How many XR owners in previous models had 8's before the turbo's. I know that before the turbo came along my big goal was to get an XR8. Then the turbo appeared and changed all that. Nah - me thinks Expensive Daewoo will follow Ford here. Bring out the SV6 for the conservatives going through a midlife crisis and a SV6 Turbo for matured "rev head" and for those in the know

And we all know manufacturers talk about their upcoming models well in advance. Maybe late 2005? 2006?When did Ford start talking about he XR6T or the Typhoon? Anyone? So the VZ will need to be good to take anyone away from a BA, IMOScotty As if you wouldn't chose a clubbie over a GT. Im not saying id ever buy a clubbie(I would never buy a commodore). But what I am saying is id never buy a GT, what a disapointment in both 400m and 0-100, its just nothing short of embarresing that the GT would have its ass completely wiped buy all of holdens V8 range. FORD you need to do something about this, how bout another 40kw or a big weight reduction....
