Local dealer in Canberra offered a work collegue's husband a HgAg or Lightning Strike (can't remember which) XR6T with auto, 18s and luxury pack for $42K +onroads.

Man - that's a great price. Is that still avail - do you know the name of dealer?

If you like 6 gears, you might want to wait for the MKII and get the manual box. But you obviously are keen on the auto. I would wait till the MKII comes out and get one of the MKI cars at a bargain price, because all the dealers will be wanting to get rid of their old stock.

Prolly John Magrath Ford...

Get a price off em, then get Gregory's to match it.

Got over 7k off mine, and this was before the run out sales.

That's way too much. A colleague of mine has just ordered a brand new, 2004 build, BA XR6 Turbo with Premium Pack (leather, sound etc), mats, scuff plates, and tints for $40,300.

This is with Fleet discount and no on-roads. The registration etc is incorporated into the 3 year lease plan.

Even if you had to throw in on-roads you'd still only be looking at around $42,000 max.

BA MkII is out in 4 weeks. They'll give it away to make room for new stock.

I had a Ford dealer offer me a 2004 XR8 inc on-road with Fleet Discount and 18's for $44,000. That is a baragain. Tempted, but they absolutely hoover the fuel.

Yes, that's about what I paid (allowing for differences in options)

2 weeks to go.... :-(

How does one go about getting a fleet discount?

You have to buy a fleet of cars.

Seriously, that's what it means. However, you can go to a leasing company, and lease a car through them. They will purchase the car from the dealer, and he will give them fleet discount (because they own a large fleet, and he wants their business)
