It doesn't make sense to release the Series 2 BA before the Territory. Their market segments intersect and Ford no doubt want the Territory to get into the market before the Series 2, as well as issues surrounding the launch of the new Commodore.

I reckon 4th quarter '04 is a pretty good bet.

BTW, FPRXR-6, love the avatar. Go Hawks!

Interesting, Dont think I will wait until the end of the year. Just got the work XR6T back from the shop. Busted gearbox out, new one in. (auto) mechanics busted the cat converter at the same time so they replaced that too. A bit of fun and games never hurt anybody.

Live for the here and now. 40kw is nothing. You can get that with a few simple mods that cost little. Same with my car, I could have got a series II with 10kw more power, but spent $1500 and now have 307kw :)

My tip is 2nd Quarter 2004. Why?

BA went on Sale Sept 2002 so it is unlikely that BA 1 will run for 2 years. So that means it should be due before Sept 04.

VZ is due Aug 2004 and engines are known and it has a confirmed new V6 and 5 speed auto (Gen 4??). So if Ford are smart they want to release BA 2 no later than Aug 04.

New Escape is due Jan with 2.3l engine. So not in Jan 04.

New Fiesta is due April. April is also out.

Territory is due June 04. Maybe June for BA 2 as the Territory uses the same engine and box combo (5spd auto for Territory??)

So the best strategy would be May or June 04. Note that HSV plans to release the Coupe 4 in May.

We had a guy from the Ford Motor Co. at our club meeting.

When asked the question of series 2, he replied: all efforts are going into the Territory with a July 04 release date. Then series 2 would follow.

In his opinion given new releases happen usually in Mar or Sep he tipped Mar 05 as a series 2 release date.

Spoke to my contact at Ford yesterday and he basically said look for the Series II release at the Sydney Motor Show around October 04. He also said that on the inside the Series II will be 95% look type changes, he is unaware of any plans to increase the power on the 'T'.

you better hope that they bring forward the release of the series2 & fpv turbo... :smilielol:

just finished reading dec issue of motor, ford is going have a serious image problem shortly when the so called 'lion tamer' fpv gt can't outgun the vy ss (s2) :innocent: ford need to be more proactive and release the fpv turbo now, can they hold it back for another 12 months?? whatever momentum that fpv has built , imo , is about to dissipate :innocent:
