Posted 11/05/04 10:32 AM Share Posted 11/05/04 10:32 AM Is there any possibility that Ford would continue to do the "T" as a series 1 while the rest of the range was series 2? this would enable them to get rid of lots of extra parts.Geea. I need to know because I could order a series 1 now or wait for the for the series 2. if I ordered a series 1 now and the series 2 came out in sept or nov, then my series 1 would loose too much of it's value. you see I trade them in ever 12 months.so if the series 2 is only 5-6 months away I would prefer to wait, if it's more then 11 months away, I'll order a series 1 now.Dave. A car loses most of its value, proportionally, in the first 12 mths - you want to endure that every year? Curious.

Rodderz Member 92 Member For: 22y 2m 18d Posted 19/05/04 11:09 AM Share Posted 19/05/04 11:09 AM dealer incentives are running till september, for example XR8 sedans get extra's like prestige sound etc and the deals on XT's with cheaper entertainment systems are running till then. Make of that what you will...

Good point Rodderz.I drive an EF now as this will be my first NEW Ford. I'm trading it every 12 months because I get employee discount. After speaking to a few dealers, most would be happy to pay me what I payed for it on trade in, any longer and I wouldn't get it all back...Dave. Dr Z Member 378 Member For: 20y 10m 8d Posted 20/05/04 02:55 AM Share Posted 20/05/04 02:55 AM I really need to know when the series 2 is coming out. I've heard it's around about september this year, but I need a definite answer. I can wait till sept, but not any longer.I know you guys will just tell me to do a search, but most of that stuff is just hear-say, no one has concrete evidence.Dave. Car manufacturer's are intentionally coy about new series announcements because it may affect current series sales, especially if they still hold a high level of finished goods inventory, even when they offer freebies and special deals. However, as mentioned, a reasonably good guide to a date is the date nominated for these "special sales". In other words, the obvious "cannibalisation" problem any producer has when they replace current models with newer models would be even worse if they clearly specified the new model entry date well in advance. In short, it is unlikely you will have an official Ford response for some time, though their retail inertia and public opinion appears to be the best guide when you consider this from past experience. However, there is a strong rumour that "series" may not be the term used for future updates, which may be marketed more as updates and/or special packages.Irrespective of what happens, from a business model viewpoint, it would also make strong business sense for Ford to see what the VZ Late model camira can deliver to the marketplace. That of course is assuming that Ford chooses an optimal objective business model, which is only my assumption if I was the Ford Australia President, or they have particularly effective competitive intelligence skills. Safe and happy driving...Dr Z.
