On the upside, you'll have the unbridled capability of an ECU that has the engineering and development of a Company that designed it to run everything from three cylinder enviromotors to dirty great dragracing bigblocks conceived to create world petroleum shortages and interacts with every other system in the vehicle which were themselves designed and engineered to work in concert. If you decided you didn't like the "T" power that Ford provides then you'd be quite able to rip it out and replace it with a rotary or brigs&stratton or that warp engine from Star Trek that runs the Enterprise... you'd then be able to reflash the ECU to run it. Imagine being able to change your EEC-V setup from alternating bank injection firing to sequential injection firing, change the automatic shift points and sharpness to change earlier and smoother or later and harder , adding another couple of Injectors to the plenum chamber for extra fuelling, turbo up a non-turbo and vice-versa, run an Airflow Sensor instead of a MAP Sensor, run an eight instead of a six, update the ECU's software and maybe even rewrite your own software to do a different job altogether (although a Uni software engineering diploma is not included, you'll just have to get your own to do this) although anything you can't (or don't want to) do yourself, will be able to plug the reprogrammer into a PC and upload/download binary dumps with it and send the dump to an authorised dealer who can make your mods for you and send the modded binary back. When I say can't, the imposed safety limits are usually in the range of about 20%-25% of what you have standard so the twin-turbos you have setup with the inline supercharger and wild cam profiles may meet such a requirement. This of course won't apply to authorised Dealers who have unbridled control over every aspect of the system.Barry says there's other things that are still to be looked at when the Yank team gets here (and is simply a matter of finding out how it manages those aspects) Other things that are probable candidates are being able to change the speedo calibration to suit different tyre sizes and maybe even change your traction control setup to be a little more in tune with your own reality...Barry has been working closely with Ford on this setup and said that each ECU matched to a Microcontroller will be plated so Dealers don't flash your ECU with boxhead settings again. On the Multi-phased cam timing thing, Barry seemed to think the Typhoon will be using the same ECU just a different binary flash, that'll be easy to fix. I spoke to my Brother who tells me the existing Cam solenoids/oilpressure feeds are individually actuated just at the same time so it's quite probable us commoners without the Typhoon badge will be able to get the capability.buggin' right out now... CheersFrankThe Microcontrollers have been sold commercially in yankland for a number of years now and the mob that make them are sending a team over to refine them for Aussie Fords at the end of this month. Barry expects to have the new company and website up a couple of seconds after they've completed these configs so keep watching his current site for news on the new one early September. The units will have two or three states of tune already in memory that can be used as a starting point on purchase. As mentioned, they'll be able to do everything you've dreamed of and Barry knows their worth here and he'll be wasting no time (sparing necessary refinement) to get the finished product to market. We'll be hearing about it here when he fronts up as a sponsor I guess. They will be more than competitive with existing solutions on the market considering all the complexity of controlling the engine is already in your car, this is just an interface and storage facility for your edits. No extra wiring looms, nothing to hide or modify, etc, etc. Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/12166-car-ecus/page/4/#findComment-151958 Share on other sites

There will be a plate that's supposed to be fixed to the top of the ECU to the fact but it's not like the ECU won't operate just fine without it....but Yes, it's a modification that has all the same effect on insurance and warranty and everything just like the current crop of solutions.
