Hi Everyone just checked my engine oil this arvo and found it below the ok line, the car has 3200klms on it. Is this normal useage during the first few thousand k's it took 1.2 liters to bring back up to full. Anyone else had this in a new T.

Thanks in advance.

no, havnt had such issue, wouldnt surprise me if it wasnt filled up enough out of the factory. Take it back to your dealer, a few people have had issues with the oil line going to and from the turbo leaking.

I found mine although naturally aspirated used oil until the 8-10,000km mark indicating that it took that long for the rings to properly bed, Not a concern as these engines use low tension oil control rings, it therfore stands to reason that with less pressure against the bores the rings will take longer to seat.

To be expected unless you drive it like you stole when new!

Yep, I use 0.5L of oil every 1,000kms.......

I have a leak in the Turbo Oil Return line.

Four times I have taken it back maybe next time it will be fixed. :tonguetied:

Benny.....

that's why I gotto do on the XF... I would not ever expect that kinda usage on a new car like a turbo or the old mans XR... I wouldnt stand for it...

Talking to one of the engineers at the "firm", they told me that there is a concern with oil usage under the first 5,000 k/m. :ermm:

After that it all settles down to virtually nil

My experiance has been that from 0 to 3000 I used 2 liters of oil, I thought "what the....." :nono: but it seemed to settle down that I only needed .5 ltre between 3000 to 5000. I've now got 7000 on the clock and haven't needed a drop. :tonguetied:

I also have Oil leak at Turbo return line to the sump.

Been in twice for repair, will be going in again, and again if not fixed.

Is there any dealer that can get it right, my dealer will be an expert by the time they fix it, if they ever can.

Cheers. :w00t2:

For the first 3000 kms I lost about 2 litres of oil, after that I switched to 0w40 fully synthetic and never lost a drop since. Mind you I got it changed every 7.5k kms.

same here.......

It is starting to annoy me, I am sick of smelling buring oil when I pull up in my car.

Oh well, maybe some day it will get fixed and I can stop buying oil!

Benny.....
