Seems rather odd that they would release so much detail about a secretly developed engine that wont be introduced for over 2 years. One would think that the opposition would have the same amount of time to launch a counter attack based on the advanced warning.

Well we have known about the new generation Expensive Daewoo engines for two years now and they aren't going into cars until 2005 - that's about the same lead-time by my reckoning.

It will certainly answer the General new 190 kw six and put to rest all the worries that have been voiced by Ford fans that we have no answer - well fellas here it is and what a beauty!

Unless you can show me proof of an article or similar, I recon that information is a load of crap! A Expensive Daewoo fan who thought something up and is reading this all and laughing! There is no way that that valve operating system will be used by then! As far as I am aware no manufacture has worked out how to do it! As for the variable intake, I doubt that too! Very expensive for not much gain! and reving to 7200rpm or what ever will not happen in a aust family car as aussies dont like to rev there engines, prefer the torque!

In terms of the government banning the power rating, they can't. How would they control BMW and mercs and the like? the government makes to much money from luxury car tax and the like to shoot its self in the foot like that! Speed limited to 250km/h seems the more normal thing to do, like the majority of BMW and mercs!

my 2 cents!

Yeah my bull :kissmy: barometer is working overtime when I am reading this.

I think we need a reliable source for this to be held as gospel.

1) Why would Ford develop an alloy INLINE 6 when the world is using V6?

2) What other applications would it have? I.e. To justify investment in a new alloy motor would require use in more than just the Oz Falcon.

3) There is a project underway to develop a new global 6 cylinder motor, but Ford Oz was apparently not looking at it, as of late last year.

4) 7200 rpm redline. Unlikely.

Anyway, it will be interesting to see if this can be substantiated by a credible source.

1) BMW still use inline six engines, and they are one of the best 6cyl motors in the world! Also the RB26DETT (skyline) is inline 6 and would be arguably THE toughest 6cyl motor in the world, and 2JZE motor (supra) would also be a contender for this title, both engines being able to hold the power of up to 7-800hp with standard internals...

4) as stated above, the skyline starts redline at 7 and goes around to 10 and same with the supra, and im not quite sute about the bmw's but im sure they are well and truly up there...

1) BMW still use inline 6's... Correct. However, the Skyline's RB26DETT is no longer in production and niether is the 2ZJE from the Toyota Supra. Nissan now use the VQ35 3.5ltr V6 in current model Skylines in Japan (Same engine found in the 350z) The next GT-R will be a Version of this VQ powerplant, not an inline 6. Toyota's next Supra due out in 2007/08 will also use a V6.

4) I'm not sure how high the Skyline and Supra rev, Yes they can rev very high. However 7200rpm is ALOT for a stock SQUARE engine! I know for a fact the RB26DETT is far from square.

ya I know about the V35 skyline will have a v6, same with the supra's but I was just stating that inline sixes arent in the past... they are still around and they do produce alot of power... never did I say that the RB26DETT was still in production... only the bmw's I said were :)

and for point 4... your very correct :)

Look, I would like this too be true as much as any other Ford fan.

Pick wholes with the rationale for my opinion all you like, but until we see confirmation the bull :smilielol: barometer remains on alert!!

Just remember that we are talking about budget family cars here and not sports cars. BMW aside, the undeniable trend is for V6.
