Found this info on another forum, sounds good though Ithink Ford should move the release date forward ...

While browsing for BA MkII info, I came across something that sounds too good to be true, except it appears we will have to wait for the 2007 Falcon before we see it. But why then are they releasing so much detail now?

Engine specs:

Power: 220kW @ 7200rpm

Torque: 460Nm @ 4600rpm (400Nm from 1200rpm)

Bore: 94mm

Stroke: 96mm

Compression Ratio: 10.0:1

Configuration: Inline 6

Construction: Lightweight Alloy Block and Head, Iron Sleeved Bores, Forged Steel Crankshaft and Rods

Firing Order: 153624

Valve Actuation: 4 Valves per Cylinder, Infinitely Variable Solenoid Actuated Valves

Fuel: Sequential Petrol or LPG Injection

Ignition: Crank Angle Sensor, Coil on Plug, 6 Knock Sensors

Features: Piston Cooling Oil Jets, Electronic Water Pump, Continuously Variable Length Intake Runners, Ceramic Coated Tuned Length Exhaust Headers, Drive-By-Wire

That equates to 3,997 CCs

When asked why this motor has been such a well kept secret until now new Ford Australia Boss Tom Gorman said that a separate division was created for this motor with part of the development work being done in the US. “We wanted the BA motor to be a quick freshen up on the existing iron block 4.0L to hold us out until it was ready. The new motor, however, was developed secretly and has run ahead of schedule, so we have decided to release it in the upcoming all new Falcon. It is big news for Ford Australia and is a motor ahead of it’s time – we weren’t expecting this to be ready until much later.”

If only it was ready for BA MkII. It definitely would mean that the current 220kw V8 wouldn't continue and the 6L would have to be a certainty to be introduced.

Yeah, 2007 is way too far away. Maybe they'll change the motor part-way through the BA Mk2 run, just like the AU2XR8's output was lifted? Not likely though.

When's it all gonna stop?

We keep on increasing the output of factory engine's, one day something has to happen...... remember phase IV?

I hope the guvment dont put a cap on outputs, but I think its inevitable. While ever factories keep on upping the outputs, it all has to stop sometime, or else we'll be buying factory motors with more output than Top Fuel!

Seems rather odd that they would release so much detail about a secretly developed engine that wont be introduced for over 2 years. One would think that the opposition would have the same amount of time to launch a counter attack based on the advanced warning.
