Even with the shorter final drive, the higher ratios of the gearbox (in 1, 2, & 3) will see the accelleration times remain pretty much the same as now.

how do you know which t56 gearbox ford are running?

The XR8 suspension is not modified over the XR6T. It is the same spring rate and damper valving and this is one of the reasons they have been unpopular with HWP at high speed. The spring becomes uncontrollable over undulations because the damper cannot conrol it.

I guess it was cheaper to use the 6cyl suspension across all models as Ford were running out of money. Now that the BA has been succesfull (in comparison to the AU) they can spend the money uprating the spring/damper package. Even a $5 component relates to a $100k expense over the build process.

The good news is that there will finally be a dedicated Police Pack which will include HD suspension, Premium brakes and a power upgrade as well as a modification of the shifter (with a lockout from D to N and a mod to prevent the SSS accidently picking up 2 in full accel instead of 4 - this has caused a turbo spike/overrev which has ripped the cam lobes off a Turbo on issue)

There has been no date set for the Police pack and I don't think it will be available to the public, however, in terms of brand image and making a product available to younger customers, the winners will be FoMoCo and the consumer.

The FPV's have been released with the same 290 KW output, but now have the T56 Option just as the new F6 does aswell. F6 Wont be available in Auto and the only changes to the FPVs is they now have bonnet decals (of some sort) and the Pursuit Loses its hard Torneau cover.

On one front I think this is a very good upgrade. The car that needed the most attention seems to have got it and I can only hope that the attention flows through to the rest of the Boss cars as I have said in previous correspondence. On paper they look to be addressing all my concerns that I had with the "soft" XR8. It was a nothing car caught between two worlds in the handling dept so it is pleasing to see it returning to a nature of AU heritage- the XR8s finest era in this regard.

However this announcement puts the acid on FPV.

The six speed will diminish the appeal of the F6 and unless greater emphasis is placed on technical innovation the FPV range will struggle.

The days of climate control as a distinguishing feature dies in 2002. The FPV cars require the most amount of work and I suspect the GT-p might be the loser in the shuffle. A release states the power levels stay the same, which against the F6 torque could spell disaster for Gt sales. Manual only could bastardise F6 sales.

FPV needs to show prodrive levels of innovation and they really needed to start showing in this upgrade. Bonnet decals aren't what I would have hoped for.

A further concern is the decision by Expensive Daewoo to upspec the Calais to 260kws the same as the Monaro. The SS moves to 250kws.

The Fairmont Ghia is really up against it receiving the lease amount of attention against the Expensive Daewoo model that has received the most. Its an interesting move by Holden. One last thing! It really sh*ts me to see so much fuss about Expensive Daewoo moving to steering wheel shift when the T series had this back in 2001. Yet something else Ford through away. Clowns on the run

Hmmmmmmm...I just had bad thought.

There has been no mention of weight loss for BA2, could this be because there has actually been a weight gain?!

I'm sure I remember Brian saying a T56 is about 80kg heavier than T5.
