My average is 8 litres per 100km for mountain driving on country roads. When pushed these figures would change to something like 20 litres per 100km. I think I will have to get rid of the trip meter as it spoils the fun of the car.

Off the driving computer? Or by calculations from the fuel and distance when you filled her up?I can't believe 8l/100km in the type of driving you claim - I'd believe closer to 12 ... I for one dont believe it because we have an XR8 also, and it avgs around 14l/100km... especialy for mountain driving, because the more "strain" on the engine the more fuel it pumps into the motor, so the L/100km would go much higher...driving on the flat at 100km in top gear (4th for auto 5th for manual) you would get around 10L/100km... (last time I was on a small drive on the flat, I checked the instant L/100km and it wasalways around 10.8 to 12.4, so really, what you are saying could not possibly be correct...doin 60km in 4th dear maybe... but not hill driving as you say you were

colbourne Member 52 Member For: 20y 10m 14d Posted 01/08/04 03:26 PM Author Share Posted 01/08/04 03:26 PM This average was from the trip meter so is only as accurate as that is. I will check my fule usage so that I can check the accuracy of the meter. This as I said is not typical driving. I was trying to drive as efficiently as possible in top gear to get an idea of how good a figure I could achieve and the speeds were probably around 80km/h most of the time.Today without the girlfriend my figures are more those expected. I noticed the meter (instantaneous) reached over 90 litres/ 100km at times under heavy acceleration. How high does the meter go ?
