Guys I had taken out spark plugs today only to find the ceramic with a film of orange powder. Is this because of fuel?Or wrong plug?Any suugestion are welcomed

Most common cause - too much octane booster. By the time its a noticable orange film, it's normally conductive ie. forms a suitable current path to ground instead of allowing a spark across the plug gap under boost/high load

Hey Lok can you explain more....l mean too much octane boost??? l've run all my cars on optimax and never change types, does that mean we should use UL every so often too?

Octane BOOSTER the "tip in the tank" kind. They contain

"Tri-Methyl-Ethyl-my-grandmother-has-a-long-molecular-chain-name-description" something :gooff: , part of which ends up as a conductive carbon-like film on the ceramic under certain combustion process events.

I would generally recommend using a stable "pump" fuel for most all applications. If you're going to race and want "race fuel", get race fuel, or use Methyl-Benzine or Toluene (I think they are trade names) at not greater than 30% mix with your "Optimax" "Ultimate" etc. This is just based on our testing. The "NF" black worked well when we tested it some years ago as an "Octane Booster", but I haven't done much with this type of tip-in for a while.

Unless they're damaged (including the conductive film type damage above) the plugs should be fine for 30-50k. It's very simple, if they're bad replace them, if not, leave them alone.

You'd be better off sticking to the Bundy Scotty.

That other stuff will make your keys all sticky.

It's the manganese in the octane booster that causes the orange/reddish film.

Here's a brief link for some concise information.

If add MB to your fuel I wouldn't add more than 15% in a mix. Also wear gloves and be careful.
