None of this suprises me. The BA computer is supposed to be so damn clever so why couldn't is log things such as top speed, how often the rev limiter is hit and such. It must be like a mini black box.

Hmm APS should take the 307km/h car to a dealer - I bet they are going to be in for a shock when they see the top speed fault code..

This morning my I had this conversation with my Service Adviser (SA)...

SA: You had driver-induced fault codes which we cleared.

Dr Z: What does that mean?

SA: It shows the application of wide-open throttle, do you give it a bit?

Dr Z: My missus drove the car last weekend while I was working.  :spoton:

SA: Does she give it some?

Dr Z: Huge lead-foot!  :w00t2:

...

1. OK, so what are the implications of driver-induced fault codes?  For example, can Dealers hassle you about warranty issues?

2. Do you get driver-induced fault codes?  If so, is it a problem for you?

3. Do driver-induced fault codes cause any problems elsewhere?

4. How does it register?  By measuring the wide-open throttle or when instantaneous fuel goes to 99.9km/hr?  *whistles*

5. Most importantly, for all the modified cars out there, especially that run strips regularly, is there anything in particular that concerns you about driver-induced fault codes?

Look forward to being enlightened by all the gurus out there.  :msm:

Safe and happy driving...Dr Z.  :w00t2:

Hey,

Spoke to Troy (brother, service manager, chief mechanic) who sait it's a load of Crap! The Dealership was hoping to wrangle a confession out of you for floggin' the bejesus out of it. These codes are ones you should ask them to give you and they should be able to give you the workshop manual explanation.

I was told they could be caused by a number of scenarios and they aren't really called "Driver-Induced" codes anyway. They are such things as Over-rev which could be caused by revving the engine above certain RPM,s while in neutral or reverse (EA Falcons did this all the time just revving over 2000RPM's) or say for example a hose blew off your emmissions kit, this would often trigger an excessive-boost fault.

Sleep easy, no such thing could cause a void of warranty provided you don't admit to doing Stoo, Stooo, STOOPID things in it.

Maybe I'm on track to be nominated by my dealer for 3 months therapy at "Accelerators Anonymous"...?

I've hit the rev limiter on my way up to the speed limiter, where I sat with full throttle for about 30 seconds...(more than once...)

No fault codes reported to me.

Flogged it round the track and had the T go into "Me oils to Hot!" limp mode.

No comments from the service dept.

Bout the only thing they say to me is "When are you going to put a chip in??"

Complained about in crunching into 5th when changing from 4th at 5600 rpm.

"could not replicate fault....in the city" was thier reply.

I don't seem to get it much anymore, perhaps I just change a bit slower and make sure the clutch is all the way in.... maybe it doesn't do it anymore...Dunno

I'm scared now, maybe I had better refrain from pushing the clutch all the way to the floor in case I get a fault code. And now I am going to have to put up with a 30 metre turning circle in case I log a fault code on full lock.

Good grief.... spare me!

Lucky I am not a big fat bas*ard and can get in the car without opening the door fully.

MoFo, you have done it again.

I put my window all the way down yesterday. I hope that didn't log a fault code!

I will definately have driver induced fault codes.

The other day I drove past this stunner and she smiled and before I could respond I had driven past, instantantiously the fault lights came on.

I will take it to the dealer and I bet it will come up with

D.H 001 code - D*ck Head code - man fails to acknowledge beautiful woman.

The code is cleared by having a beer with the service department and describing what you would have done to her if you had stopped. :spoton:
