I think you'll find the plumb back is more efficient because it helps spool the turbo faster by dumping a heap of air at hi velocity back through it. And yes the flutter is the noise of the air hitting the turbo's impella blades, not the valve itself. The valve should be silent, and that flutter we all love to hear is the turbulent are entering the turbo. Two separate things.

Ok, so why would ford release a car that doesnt have a BOV that functions properly, and it will only funtion properly after it has been tampered with?

Something doesnt seem to add up to me.

It doesn't funtion preperly, in fact it operates in reverse to every other BOV in every other Turbo car. Its generally a much better design, I don't know the fine details, but I could get them if you really want. Still, wasn't your original question regarding the paper from your dealer mishap?

No my original question was to get a pickture of the stock BOV so I could make sure I was identifying it correctly in my car. But the dicussion after has had me very confused but been benificial non the less.

I dont think it matters too much whether it's plumb back or vented, the only difference is the noise level, it would be nice to get one that worked though.

I believe there is a thread somewhere that has some information in it about a vented BOV that had an adjustable volume, from stock sounding to quite loud. ABout 10 different levels. Supposedly level 4 was the best, audible but subtle.

 So which BOV's are best suited to a T for performance?

Plumback or Venting. I've heard the good word put in for the stealh Fx, but what are the other options?

The original one is best for performance..... and for your hip pocket

The one that vents externally is a $200 ticket and sounds really wanky

The one I had on my WRX was not as good as the original, so I put the original one back one.

The best one for performance IMHO isn't standard fitted equipment. The best option is a good quality after market plumb back. The biggest problem with standard fitted BOV's are they are usually pretty cheap bosch fitment and can leak after time or increased boost applications.

Compressor Surge I'm quite sure is when the turbo pushes more air than the capacity of the motor can swallow. This usually happens when the turbo is miss matched to the engine and causes the engine to make an un-usual choofing sound when boosted. This I'm quite sure isn't happen to anyones T.

I think I will just replace the standard BOV anyway, it does seem cheap, is the whole thing made of plastic or just the outside?
