hey guys,

I got my car back from the panel beaters and I just noticed the build date sticker in the engine bay has got "VOID" written all over it, so I rang the panel beater and he said when he was cleaning the engine bay with the high pressure hose half the sticker came off(I don't know if that really happened).

I got told by my local ford dealer to ring ford in melbourne and they said they can not make another sticker... :ermm: they are going to send me down a cirtificate(spelling) of ownership and has to stay with the car the whole time..

so just a warning to all of you be careful when cleaning under hood :ermm:

WTF?? That can't help the value of your car. Geez.

So what's the story? Does the sticker have a feature that when it is peeled or delaminated it makes VOID apprear?

I've never heard of that one. Crafty trick though.

<evil mode = on>

Imagine going to a dealer that has screwed you in the past and voiding all their compliance stickers while browsing the yard.

<evil mode = off>

What happened to the good old plate? - was trying to find mine today without luck in the engine bay and eventually found it inside front of drivers door so they may have moved it because of probs such as urs phantom

if they were using the high pressuse hose under the bonnet, the only ws for the sticker to come off is if they ewre like within 12 inches between the end of the hose and the area they were spraying... you best hope no water got to where it shouldnt be..

eg electrics, motor intake etc...

Good point, you would think a panel beater would know high pressure water and electronics isnt a good combination.

that's pretty sh*t!

Ford switched to these paper plates to reduce car re-birthing but they shouldnt be that fragile, its going to cause l alot of headaches in the future and make legit cars dubious in the eyes of some naturally suspicious buyers.

Ford wont release new tags because of the cost involved in checking and verifying that its your car and not stolen and dicked with, and then re-issung the plate with all the correct info and ensuring its fitted to your car. Its extremely dissapointing that this could happen to your new car mate, of course it can only be a bad thing. Apart from getting the letter from Ford, l dont know what else you can do :spoton:

yeah that's pretty much what ford said! it is illegal to make two two stickers for the same car even if u give back the old one...

so it looks like my baby is going to have a letter of compliance bit of paper in the glove box for the rest of its life :spoton:
