Actually I saw an XR6 here in town the other day with a very tasty looking nudge bar. It was chrome/stainless and ran the length of the front bumper it was set just in front and above the bottom edge of the bumper, really looked quite “discreet”….sadly no pictures and I’ve not been able to find anything on the web about it….I’ll have to keep an eye out and ask the guy where he got it from.

That sounds quite good! Plse let us know if you can find out more

pLONKY

Could you please consider going into politics in QLD, we need some as premier like you. Someone who knows how to enforce the law justly.

Just the other day whilust driving home from work , sick as a dog early, about 9:00pm through an industrial estate, not many cars I was booked 15km over the limit, now hangon a minute, there was a B-Dub truck in the righ t hand lane I needed to get in that lane, to turn right, he wasn't why should I be booked for planting it gentley to get in that lane, when he should have been in the left hand lane anyway. I told this to him, and the cop just said look at the signs it says 60, I said thanks mate I can read, but why ias it I exit a 100km zone freeway onto this road having to drop to 60,m then turn right into an 80km zone main road, and try and get around a drugged up truck driver blaitently breaking the law by being in the wrong lane. HOw come I am in the wrong here? WHY because cops in QLD are money hungry and need to fund their promotional drives to the top. Look Sir I BOOKED 200 people, and let 1500 people break all the safety laws that prevent speeding.

Plonky I really respect your way of thinking it relieves me so much to know there are police who understand how to enforce the logical laws we have. I would vote for you, and so would half of southsiding brisbaneites.

Oh and isn't it funny how I pay more insurance coz I am under 25 (not now 25 by 2 months now) AND statistics would show here in brisbane that asian drivers cause more accidents and injuries than under 25's, trust me I know, I asked many Panel beaters when a chinnesse uni student hit my baby within the first 2 weeks of owning her. GOD DAMMIT I WAS at a stop sign, lit up like a christmas tree and he hit me at 60kms an hour, even that seems to fast for him while not breaking the speed limit. And this isn't my frustration about insurance, coz I agree with paying something , but the ways to determine how much need alot more thorough research. I am not racist but I do believe as a cultural group they are shocking they break the law at least 3 times in a space of 2km on a straight road, if you are unlucky enough to be stuck behind them ( in their imported cars, which are far to big for their driving capabilities)

So sorry if this offends any ethnic people, but I have man y friends of asian backgrounds and they also agree with me, mainly cause I taxi them around anyway LOL. Oh well guess democracy was not all what its cracked up to be. AIn't much freedom to make changes when people won't listen to you without big wads of money in your hand.

I think I would be too unpopular with those that want to implement 'social justice/engineering', those that want to make excuses for the individuals behaviour, those that think that the Government and the world owes them something or those that believe every bit of media driven rubbish on the print and visual mediums.

I'm just happy doing my thing at work, showing that a commonsense way is really the way to do our job and being continually criticised/excluded from climbing the ladder because it goes against the policy of the State Government and Police hiearchy.

Have you heard of the 'Peter principle'? It is a term where managers/chief executives surround themselves with people who pose no threat to them and are of similar or lesser intelligence/initiative.

This is why you see the really smart people still in lower to middle management because they can't/won't sacrifice their commonsense principles to climb the corporate ladder.

I think the only way is to go into Government....then I would be one of a few that aren't solicitors :)

All bull bars should have razor sharp sword like blades on them, you hit a roo it gets sliced up no damage to the car,

You hit a stupid j walker,it gets sliced up ,no damage to the car

How many stupid j walkers are gunna step out in front of cars with bull bars after that.

You can only hit a pedestrian if you are driving on the footpath

J walkers are on the road, the attitude of them really gets me,the way they flaunt the fact a car must give way...sloooowly walllk aloooong looking at you ,you can read what theyre thinking "Ha,wait for me mother fcuker,I aint crossed yet"

All Ts should have razor bars!!

You forgot one thing, the razor blade bull bar needs its own meat processing, packing and exporting plant built in so before you even know what you hit, its being shipped off to japan and the money is in the bank.

Good point TurboDewd, I have tracked down what I beleive to be the study in question although it's dated 2000 it seems to be most recent report relating to the topic in question , the conclusion is as follows:

“This report provides no conclusive basis for opposing the use of newer-style bull bars.

The experimental findings reviewed here about impacts of bull bars with pedestrians

and other unprotected road users do, however, provide some case for considering

measures to phase out the use of older style, protruding, rigid bull bars, especially in

urban areas.”

It’s really quite an interesting read….as far as I can tell they’re not advocating banning Bull Bars at all….

Here’s a link t the article if any one is actually interested in reading it….

http://www.atsb.gov.au/road/res-abs/cr200abs.cfm

They also seem to acknowledge that there are some significant gaps in the source data…all in all seems fairly reasonable

Plonky, did you have any details about an alternate or more recent report?

It’s also interesting to note that there are no industry standards in terms of bull bar design and manufacture. I had assumed that there something like this that is marketed as a safety accessory would have to comply with industry standards, but apparently not….
