As we know the folks from the blue oval actually frequent this forum, as evident with the cars storage space survey and other posts from members who work in Geelong.

Perhaps this thread could be a repository, no I said repository of future suggestions we would like to see in the next car we buy. :crybaby:

For example…

Tonight I worked late in a dubious part of town (Northside) :glad: as I drove away I remembered a feature found on many cars I have driven on trips to the US that would be good to have in the XR.

As soon as the vehicle speed go’s above about 20k/h the doors automatically lock. This feature would cost peanuts to add to new BA’s as the BEM already knows when the car is moving, because it won’t let you open the boot when the car is in motion. So it would probably just be a bit more code into the flash ram of the BEM.

And in practice the feature could be disabled for those who don’t want it, in a similar fashion to the 1 door vs. 4 door remote type…perhaps by turning the ignition to the on position whilst simultaneously pressing the hazard switch and holding the passengers side windscreen wiper arm. :ermm:

I ask that we keep this thread true to the cause, and limit, possibly with MOD intervention the……

“I bought a Haag and I feel others who drive Phantom and Envi coloured cars are mean to me”:msm:

or

“my car has shuddering brakes, perhaps Ford could get that right before they get carried away with other crap”

or the harder to discern from more valid idea….

“I want some auxiliary 150 watt globes incorporated into the reversing lights. That I can turn on to sear the retinas of those fools who follow me in their Subarus/HSV’s/Hyundai’s/Rav4’s with their friggin fog lights on, when there is no fog :cussing: ”

…..type posts

Any other ideas?

What's wrong with the Northside buddy?! :censored: It was OK until you "southerners" started coming here! :3gears:

Maybe optional heated external rear view mirrors.

And stereo that will play MP3s.

Fairmont clock style boost guage would be nice on Turbo's.

Auto windows up for at least drivers door,

iluminated switches (even as an option on the Turbo)

footwell lights for cars with premium sound.

If no Fairmont clock style boost guage, how about new compartment over the ICC like in the Territory.

One thing Ford should do is think about the ergonomics of how a typical person actuates the tilt forward mechanism of the ute seats.

I can't believe they have arranged it that you have to push the lever away from you as you try and pull the seat upright forward.

It's a real pain in the ar$e. It becomes a two handed operation!!!!

you have to operate the lever with the left hand, whilst pulling the seat upright with the right hand (drivers seat) and opposite requirement for passenger seat.

Why didn't they arrange it like every other car I've had, whereby you pull the lever in a forward motion and tilt the seat upright forward in a simple one finger operation???

Also, in situations where the seat is right back on its runners and tilted so that it may be leaning against something behind the seat (eg bag, or towel, jacket whatever) the actual mechanism will NOT release the upright.

I then have to reach down under the seat, move it forward on the runners, then go through the two handed operation to get to the bag/towel whatever located behind the seat, and then have to reposition the seat back on the runners so I can get in next time.

It's one of my only two issues I have with the design of the ute....

The only other thing I'd like is remote hard tonneau release/lock for the utes.

Having to physically use a key to operate 2 locks can be a pain when in a hurry.

C'mon FORD. It can't be that difficult.

cheers

tom

Just a thought.....

Would be handy I reckon if the drivers window, when going down in auto mode was able to be stopped. Say, half way.

I know that you can do it in small increments and you can just stop it by pushing the button to wind the window up. But mine makes a bad clunking noise when I do this.

I used to have a VY SS and you simply just pushed the button down again to stop it whenever you liked. Sounds kinda stupid I guess, but it was pretty handy.

Couldn't see it being that hard to include either.

Hope this makes sense!

Ford already have this as an option but I think it should be made a no cost option.

Headlights that you cannot turn off, they come on when the car is started and turn off when the car is stopped, you still need to turn the stalk at night to turn the dash lights on, but the headlights are on forever.

This shouldnt be an option that costs $115.

1. Auto lock feature is standard on the wife's new maxima

2. Footrest - I miss it

3. Sunglasses Holder

4. Drivers Armrest

5. Mat that goes over the rear center "hump" - I had one made up by a motor trimmer for $30 - very much worth it!!

6. Proper shaped boot

7. Electric Folding Side Mirrors - Standard on wife's Maxima - very useful in our smallish double garage

that's all for now! :w00t2:

Wouldn't this option make us VOLVO drivers?

Nice idea, but I wouldn't want it.

Maybe suggest it is a no cost option, or a user selectable option.

cheers
