Does anyone have any recommendations for software that will just do the conversion to MPEG2 and split the output into chunks?Any help is appreciated. Ie it decrypts, shrinks (if required), and burns all in one go. It is supposed to be very good for backing up your dual layer DVDs onto a single-layer disc.Only what I have been told though. I haven't had a chance to use it yet.CheersA. It also depends on what you are converting. If you want to "back-up" your DVD....there is a great freeware program called DVD Shrink. You get to choose which Audio channels you want to save ( eg. DTS, DD, PCM etc ) and which Languages. It then compresses the final output automatically to your HDD with whatever compression is required to fit on your DVD.If you forget about the additional soundtracks and menu screens....you come pretty close to 90% video quality of the original movie. However, if you are converting AVI ( Digital Camera ) to MPEG...this program is not much help. sharkey Member 337 Member For: 21y 5m 7d Posted 19/07/04 04:04 AM Share Posted 19/07/04 04:04 AM For all video conversion / compression etc I use TMPGEnc. It's freeware with a lot of configurable options. I haven't used it to convert DVDs yet, but I think it will do it ok.
