Punch Bunny Member 11 Member For: 21y 2m 15d Location: Viewbank (Melbourne), VIC Posted 18/07/04 12:42 AM Share Posted 18/07/04 12:42 AM Woohoo! I finally got a test drive of a T... and I'm quite impressed It probably wasn't quite as quick as I would have liked (but I already drive a pretty quick car), but the power progression was fantastic, the handling was pretty good, and the comfort... very nice. So, I think I want one  The Ford dealer I visited had a XR6T waiting out the back to be sold, spec'd pretty much how I would like my T - Blueprint, SSS, premium sound, sunroof. They wanted just under $45K for me to leave the yard with it - to me, this sounds like a pretty good deal. However, the car is old stock - it's a September '03 build. It's only got 47kms on it so it's not an ex-demonstrator. My preference would have been a luxury pack, but for a ~$5K saving, I think it's a fair trade-off.So, what's the general concensus? Should I take this car, or bide my time and wait for series 2 (and thus save more money and maybe option the luxury pack?).Thanks!

A '03 build will always be a '03 in the eyes of the insurance and when it comes to sell it. I would look around first and see what other dealers have before you put down the hard earned. If you order a luxury pack, be prepared for a 12+week wait + a $55k+ price tag as dealers are less inclined to do a deal on an order as they do not need to. I also do not think you could order a Blueprint anymore

All you have to do is speak to the dealer and make it clear you are ready to buy, mention that the car he has in stock isnt quite what youre after, see if he makes an offer on it. Then mention that your arm could be twisted on it, basically for the conversation you must churn out loads of reasons as to why you dont want to buy it. Eg wrong color interior trim, u dont like sunroofs, etcBe merciless in strategy, be polite in dealing, be smart - try to hammer yourself a good deal. The car is $5k off list and you could probably negotiate to within a few grand of that and have a brand new 04 model, wont be able to get blueprint though
Xr6tBug Member 47 Member For: 21y 6m 11d Posted 19/07/04 12:15 PM Share Posted 19/07/04 12:15 PM My opinion would be to pay an extra 5k and get a new XR with the lux pack and you can select the options that you want... but that's only because that's what I did. So I'm biased. But if you did go for this one you should be able to get the price down a couple of grand if you haggle a little.

Price is good just inspect vehicle for any scratches etc I had one on headlight and one on tailight they put headlight covers on and thought I wouldnt notice till to late. I noticed both and both were replaced.IF u buy it on pre delivery take the fussiest person you can with you ,you will want to drive it home as soon as u see it , but your mate will be more objective and thorough. It`s easier to get things fixed b4 you leave the yard br patient Price is Good.regardsStang Make an offer no harm in trying just dont be smart about it, I always like Gee I would luv to take it now but dont know if I can make it I only have guaranteed funds of $$$$$
