A TSB has been released today regarding the fix for the preminum brake squealing problem that a lot of forum members are suffering from.It requires the replacing of the front pads with a new level pad that is now being fitted in production from 30/06/04.Dealers have been given specific instructions to only replace them on vehicles where the customer is dis-satisfied with the problem of the brakes being noisy(Apparently some customers like the noise.)

Cheers

I will be calling them up to get it sorted out.

Thanks FordTech, will ring the dealer tomorrow. Don't understand why people would WANT them squealing. Sheez....

When I upgraded to the FPV brakes not only did they squeak but left all black brake dust everywhere.I went threw all the crap with the standard brakes plus all there so called factory shim fix and 2 sets of rotors with the standard ones and did not want to have all this problems again.I have been running the new bendix pads in now for 20000km with no noise or fade and diffently no black dust covering my wheels.Something to consider anyway.

I wonder if these new pads there offering are going to leave huge amounts of dust behind?.Seems to be one or the other with all there fixes.

Yes sir we have a fix for your squeling brakes but you will have to put up with no brakes after 1 good stop.

FORDTECH, thanks for the post.

Will the new pads behave/perform any differently from the originals, e.g., stopping ability, fine dust production, etc.? Will there be any cost in replacing a set of orginals with 20,000+ ks on them?

Cheers.

KEN,

There is no stipulation in the TSB that says they wont replace them free of charge(irrespective of milage).I assume they will because of them stating that only dis-satisfied customers can have them fitted.

From all reports that I've heard from the testing is that they actually perform better than the original pads.

As for the dust,I havent heard anything in regards to this. When they test these things I dont think the dust is a high priority. As long as they work they're happy.
