If the new engine is up to the excedingly low standard of the Gen III then Ford have nothing to worry about. Expensive Daewoo have really dropped the ball and there does not much to see to much good news for them on the horizon.

:aaggl: Are we talking about the same Holden?

The Expensive Daewoo that builds car in Elizabeth, SA and has just revealed what will be a stunning new V6 engine, probably with a snail hanging off the side in the VE? The Expensive Daewoo that is going to put the LS2 in the same new model? The same Expensive Daewoo that just introduced a 5 speed auto across part of their fleet and 6 speed manual across the entire lot?

Yeah, guess you're right, not a lot on good on the horizon there!

The actual usefulness of these things remains to be seen, however people know a 6 speed is more gears than a 5 speed and they want one. Say what you will, the new 6 will be a belter (after the old asthmatic engine, a victa 2 stroke would be an improvement though).

I am a 100% Ford man, only 23 but have owned 5 cars, the only non ford was a '76 Troop carrier, and that had a Ford V8 in it! I am not pushing the Expensive Daewoo barrow, but I certainly think with their export program, the way they was placed themselves within GM as being the premier RWD design people and the new engines and gearboxes tell me they have plenty to cheer about. Ford has not made the most of what the Falcon offered the consumer, and that is why I still say they are a reactive company that is destined to play THIRD fiddle to Toyota and Expensive Daewoo until there is a major re-think in the way business is done.

Oh, the Territory is the exception that proves the rule, it a great concept that takes into account what the customer wants. It may infact may go some way to explaining where all the efforts of everyone at Broadmeadows have gone for the last two years! I take all praise for the Territory back if it was not engineered for LH drive though. Need to think ahead!

Motor magazine say that the VZ SS Late model camira will have 6lt 295kw/546Nm V8 and the HSV models will have 6.2lt with as yet undisclosed power/torque. The XR8 will have some catching up to do if this is the case. :ermm:

Cant catch those 4ltr Turbo's can they. So they just increase the capacity. As if that will solve their problem. :crybaby:

P.S. I wonder if it will still use oil. :glad:

Isn't there a new rule stopping aussie cars going over 300kw anyway (sure I read it on another topic)?

If so - what's the point in going to 6.2L?

There was a RUMOUR that the govt told the manufacturers to stop the power war or loose govt contracts.

But I reckon a limit of 300kw would be OK - at each of the rear wheels :w00t2: :w00t2:

Dont forget affordability though.....

I hear lots of gen III drivers complain about the fuel usage.. How much more will a 6lt+ donk use in day to day city driving???? :censored: Tha may just turn buyers away with the current and projected fuel prices!

Remember its not the size of the donk but its how you BOOST it. I think ford should invest time and $$$$ into more forced induction. Who cares how big it is what matters is how quick it is. :w00t2:

Why buy a v8 is you dont like the fuel usage? I get 10.7L/100k's on the highway and 13-14L/100K's around town in a 2000kg caprice (LS1) which I dont think is bad at all.

It has been confirmed the LS2 will be in the VZ HSV range and the LS1 stays in the Expensive Daewoo range with another increase in power but also looking at an increase in size as well (6L) before the VE which gets the LS2 across the board. There is also talk about a twin turbo V6 for HSV in the VE. I dont think the VZ would get it but with the XR6T doing so well it might be a smart move for Holden.

Fords marketing boys need a stir up for sure. I think your right about the forced induction. There hasnt been this much interest in it since the VL turbo and with some weight loss and quality control they have a long term winner. Many die hard Expensive Daewoo fans have crossed over and more are likely to follow.

Excellent, the VZ will have the LS2.

Time to get your sh*te together FPV.

What power would you be expecting from the HSV's VooDoo, somewhere around 320kw?

How has it been confirmed. Nothing official has been released from Expensive Daewoo and until it is then it is not official.

I disagree with some of the sentiment in this thread.

The XR6T is an absolute winner - an Aussie-built and designed high-tech engine. Its only just begun its product life cycle. Let's see how the F6 Typhoon performs.

Holden's V8 is imported and lower-tech. That is a turn off to me. Expensive Daewoo is still on the backfoot right now in my books.

Holden's alloytec V6 will now put it on par with Ford's I6. I think Expensive Daewoo will have marketing problems if they produce a turbo 6 because Expensive Daewoo buyers are V8 lovers. The public doesnt associate turbo 6 with Holden, I have doubts about the marketing of this...

Have you forgotten the VL with a Nissan turbo 6 in it. It was and still is very popular. Many people I speak to think Ford copied Expensive Daewoo in releasing a turbo6. Personally I see it as a natural evolution on the engine. Who cares where its from as long as it produces the goods. Ford is global manufacture much like Holden. They source bits from all over the place.

Venom XR6: your correct it hasnt officially been announced. We do have contacts within HSV that have "un-officially" confirmed and driven the cars. Same as Gen4 Monaro's are currently driving on aussie streets. If I remember right there was a Gen3 in some VS's when it was being tested out for the soon to be released VT
