Motor magazine say that the VZ SS Late model camira will have 6lt 295kw/546Nm V8 and the HSV models will have 6.2lt with as yet undisclosed power/torque. The XR8 will have some catching up to do if this is the case. :w00t2:

Errrrr, Mr Polites, pass me the Vortech please, we may need it! This truly is a bad omen for Ford.

This has been tested for years but, I can remeber reading that there was a Expensive Daewoo Show Ute that had the 6.2L (380ci) LS1 in it.I don't think it's like Ford didnt know that it fitted. The Chief HSV engineer had one in his personal clubby for ages, motor even drove it and advised that 'the motor drops straight in'!

Is this a similar engine to whats in the CSV370R?If so, BRUTAL!

From what I can see is that the LS1 can go out to around 6.5L in Crate Small Block Form, but the 5.4 DOHC in the BOSS is the largest capacity wise in the Ford lineup. Next step is the Supercharged donk from the US Ford GT.

What will the Blue Oval counter with?

Ford (US) are supposedly developing a 6.2lt V8 for use in F-150, I think there was a thread about it on here a couple of weeks back but I'm too lazy to find it.

Or there's a 6.8lt V10 that Ford (US) are putting in F-350s. :w00t2:

How about the 7.3L PowerStroke Disel? At least you can get some Torque from those mummas...

I can see the race between APS and Nizpro to get the first 2000Nm GT out there

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

Ford just cannot take a trick and they will continue to lose ground whilst ever they play 'catch up' with the opposition. They had a good comeback with the BA but they have not caplitaised upon it whilst the VY had that 3.8 litre boat anchor. With the HFV6 they will have their bottoms kicked again by Holden.

The LS2 is debuting in the Corvette and it will also be in the VZ Late model camira in 6 litre form. The 6.2 litre option will be available for HSV.

The Falcon should get an increase in capacity due to the Triton block imported from the US (basis for the BOSS and Triton 3 valve engine sold here) going up ti 6.2 litres.

However, they have not capitalised on the BA and there are some fundamental problems with it (particularly in Police supplied form) and that includes that ridiculously small fuel tank and the 'weight factor'.

A great looking car with an awesome sound is NOT enough to win the buyers. A big consideration would be sticking the RJV thing.......you don;t see BMW dealers undercutting their BMW franchisees, so why should Ford (Sydney metro which are RJV) undercut their Ford competitors to get a deal.

No wonder resale drops so quickly on them.

Ford should start listening to their franchisees and get some real hints how to sell cars again, because once upon a time, a long time ago, the Ford dealer network was FORMIDABLE !!!!!

this sounds like the ls2 engine?

I thought it was comming out in the VE commodores...

This time I agree with you -jep.

I think we will see the current LS1 in the VZ, upgraded to about 255-260kW.

The LS2 may appear in the VZ GTS, but would be surprised to see it in the Clubbie.

Either way, its off to Jenny Craig for BAII and then a trpi to see Sean Eadie for some of those "dietry supplements" he never bought just to give Ford some extra muscle.

Do we really want power to keep jumping like this? Not a good sign at all I think. Legislation & Legislators WILL catch up with these massive levels of factory power.

I read in MOTOR issue I have here the VZ Clubby will be 300kw LS1... I don't see LS2 in anything just yet, every LS2 they can make at the moment will be going into the new corvettes which have a order list which is getting stupidly long already here. I read a while back the last run of VZ HSV's were going to get LS2's just before every Expensive Daewoo V8 got LS2 in VE...

Motor are talking out their :crybaby:

Maybe in 3-5 years an SS may approach that power, but it wont go there in one large step. The LS2 may or may not make it into the VZ, but the 295kw figure is from the US and it will be detuned for our local market.

But as per usual, Ford will be playing catch up. The BA is like running upto a sleeping Mr Universe and flicking him on the dick, he's woken up and is now about to smash you into a pulp. Expensive Daewoo have the long term profits and good export program so have big $$ to spend, they will come back very hard. The VE Late model camira could be an excellent world competitive car l reckon. Ford will plod along playing catch up or if were lucky match up until Expensive Daewoo pull away, yet again :spoton:
