I know this question has been asked 100 times or more but I'm lazy and don't have the time to search through the archives to find info.

Just need a quick estimate as to how many kw the stock intercooler is good for.

I now have approx 300kw at the flywheel how much more have I left before I have to upgrade to larger intercooler.

I'm still using the stock intercooler at the moment. I have 2 maps that I use with a switch the 10psi map has no problems but the 12psi map drops a bit of power just before the red line. I believe that this is due to the intercooler. I feel that the stock intercooler is good for around the 260-270rwkw's. It would probably be benificial to get a bigger intercooler at less power. It all depends on your budget.

APS utilise a bigger intercooler on their Phase III system while Nizpro utilise a bigger intercooler right at the start of the mod process and both are building great cars. Do some research and go with what you're comfortable with.

What would be the story with sticking an electric fan on the intercooler???

ram

You wouldnt be able to fit a electric fan behind the intercooler, I doubt there would be enough space.

I think the problem is the stocker intercooler is too restrictive after you start pumping more air through them.

If Geea is right then I still have another 30 - 40 kw left to play with. So injectors would be next!!! yes

Oem injectors must be close to their limit at 300 flywheel kw?

Auto must be close to limit as well do you think?

Another dumb question. Is the auto trans in the xr6t the same as one in the xr8 & gt. If so why are so many people reporting trouble with the boxes in the T. Have'nt found many copmlaints from the V8 men. I've already had 1 box replaced under warranty.

Hay Macka, if you haven't already (and why not) have a look at My Mods. This should help with most of your questions.

My experience with the injectors was that when I was running 8psi and had 233rwkw's, that sometimes when the air was cold and the car was cold I would hit the boost cutout. It didn't happen alot but it gives an indication of where the injectors limit is.

With the auto I'd reccomend upgrading it very soon. It may hold up for a while with more power it may not. The better condition the auto is in when its modded the better chance it will hold up.

Yeh Geea,

I have looked at your mods and just had another look to refresh my memory.

Great reading. Look forward to meeting you on the run to Wonthagi on the 18th as well as well as everyone else who's going.

Geea,

I see that you have a temp gauge on your intake. What is the temp reading during full throttle during 1/4 mile runs

Question for everyone who would like to respond.

Has anyone done a water injection kit into intake manifold to increase O'2 level and lower air temp before ignition?

Should be able to run higher boost level before denation occurrs provided temp is higher enough in manifold for water to fog.

Does anyone know this temp

To be perfectly honest I haven't actually kept a good record of the temp at the end of the 1/4. I do recall that it gets into the 50's and possibly 60's. The runs usually start somewhere in the mid 20's. It will come back down to the 20's-30's on the way back to the staging area.

On the water injection, I have no idea but I'm interested in whatever you find out.
