It's finally arrived. Picked up the blue beast this afternoon. Please note any run in procedure instantly flys out the window once your in the car. Drove it up from Cairn via the Kuranda range. Loved every minute. Handles like a dream, sounds beautiful and looks even better. I had to park it outside the window at subway so I could admire it while eating dinner.

Definatly in love with the new wheels. Only complaint at the moment would be the spongy feel of the brakes but I'm sure I'll get used to that and if not I'm sure theirs a good aftermarket solution.

Thanks for all the people on the forum who have offered some excellent advise, its made the selection of options that much easier.

Happy driving. XR6TBug

yours was probably sitting beside mine at Trinity.... There were two blueprints there ready for delvery.

Another fine Blueprint to add to the flock, even if it is missing 2 cylinders.

Congrats.

Thanks for all the kind replies.

Had the car for arond a week now and already up to 1000 on the clock and I live basically next door to work. I find that quite often my 1 minute drive home converts rapidly into a quick one hour romp through some country roads.

A good drive for anyone who loves a good cruiz' follow my Sunday rout. From Atherton to Mareeba via the Canal Rd (nice twisty rd 100k speed limit - almost no trafic and plenty of places to overtake but watch for the dips - you will bottom out if you take them at or above 100k).

From Mareeba to the Rex range down to Port Douglas. A quick stop to poke around the markets and a good place to try and pick up a hot friendly tourist.

From their take the coast road to Cairns (scenic rd which runs along the shore most of the way to cairns - would be more fun at 100 but limited to 70 most of the way - lots of cops and trafic).

From Cairns you have 3 options

1. head up the Kuranda range (good number of bends with good camber and a number of overtaking lanes - 80k limit but at that speed its still a lot of fun. Lots of cars and at peek hours its easy to get stuck behind lots of slow cars)

2. Head over to Gordonvale and take the beautifully twisting Gillies (originally had 613 bends to reach the top but the 1958-1965 update reduced that by around 1/3 to around 200 bends). Not a road to take passangers if they get even remotely car sick. I think it has a 80k limit but in general your to busy changing gears and hugging corners to take a moment to look at your speedo. Plently of passing lanes and most people are more than happy to wave you by. Definatly one of my favorite ranges. Be carefull in the wet, she gets slippery and theirs not much to stop you taking a dive off the cliff if you lose it. Also be aware their can be small land slips and rock falls particularly after heavy rain and a number of the corners particularly at the top of the range have a corrigated surface.

3. Head on almost to Innisfail (think I spelt that wrong) and take the Parmison up to the tablelands. Nice scenic drive up towards the misty mountains. 100k most of the way. Loads of sweeping bends that just make you want to floor it (but I see a cop on this road almost every time I use it - most likely this road gives everyone the same feeling). This is a common road for large trucks so look out. When you find one going 10k and your doing... alot more than that, they can come at you real quick. Apart from that its a great drive through some really nice country areas.

I took option 3 on Sunday cause it was pissing down rain. Was hugly supprised by the improvement in grip over the SS. Quite often I found myself shocked when I took a look at the speedo, the car just handles so smoothly. Overall with a few stops a good 7 hour cruiz'.

That's my yearly rant. Sorry for the long post but LOVE THE T.

Happy driving. Xr6tBug
