So what your saying Brian is the smarties who want to mod heavily, got the auto :banghead: because it will only cost a bit over a couple of grand to fix properly where as with the manual you looking close to 10 big ones :spoton:

You may be right John, but I couldn't bring myself to buy the auto.

The T56 is very strong, and there are 2 versions that may suit 350+rwkw upgrades.

I don't know anyone who's running 350+rwkw in an auto yet, so I wouldn't jump to conclusions.

The manual may be the best solution for 350+rwkw, and the auto for sub 350+rwkw.

If the focus is drag racing, auto is probably the best option.

As I keep saying, time will tell.

Brian

Certain tuner says they have an auto upgrade for $2400 that will handle 800nm of torque It even comes with warranty :banghead:

That's OK but the bar is being raised.... APS Phase 4 and my next Nizpro upgrade will probably jump to around 1000nm.

I also have a very good auto upgrade. I'm not sure what its rated for but at my current levels it feels very strong with no sign of any problems.

This was also done in Melbourne at a cost of $1690.00.

Geea. :spoton:

Brian .... tell me mate ...

why is it a Mal Wood T56 as distinct from a T56 ??

..... if it was, wouldn't Mal Wood know and not bother being a witness to seeing it ??

obviously Mal Wood has got an available product for the members and now that I have mentioned the name another three times ... we are not likely to forget it now

(my sarcasm needs a lot more work  )

Rob,

I don’t know why you’re trying to be sarcastic.

You just don’t whack a T56 in the car.

An amount of re-engineering work is required to make it fit the Ford Turbo, and Mal has invested the R&D into making it work, given all the associated issues.

For your information the following was posted by WBT56 (Ben) on: Jul 26 2003, 08:46 PM

The internals of the box are the same as the Mustang Cobra R. Ratios are: 2.97, 2.07, 1.43, 1.0, 0.8, 0.62. First is essentially the same as the T5. Second and Third are slightly lower, and fifth is closer. Fitment is relatively straightforward. The same flywheel, pressure plate style, crossmember, mount, tailshaft, etc, are retained. Driveline angle is identical to factory, and the BCD rubber coupling is retained, leaving no avenue for NVH issues to arise. Stick comes through the same hole in the floor, same boot, console boot, etc, therefore interior remains unchanged, except for the extra gate on the pattern on the knob. The mustang T56 does not have the rattle issues that seem to plague the TR3650 used in the V8. Hope this helps.

Ben.

Brian why would any one bother going down this path............. the series II will have the 6 speed trans as standard equipment............and all of the current issues which relate to the 6 speed upgrade will be sorted correctly by Ford...........and the parts for the trans upgrade will be available through Ford Mo Co. :spoton:

Peter

Brian,

you missed my point ... why would Mal Wood or Ben need to witness one of their T56 in the APS car .... I would have thought they would have known :spoton:

as for another free info-mercial in your last post ... I know I know ....

your T56 seems to be working a treat and that's great for you and all the members who are contemplating doing the same as you ...

and we are all truly interested

but .... while the site is scratching around to cover costs ... I just keep hoping that some of the companies benefiting from the hard work the admin/mod team do to keep this place running, that these companies might chip in now and then (oops "chip" was the wrong word  )

Just wondering if Peter knows, or is simply hoping they do like you :)

I mean Brian's upgrade sounds awesome but the price is very steep ... a series II gearbox could be easily retrofitted to a Series I ... I would think and as such be a much cheaper option ...

that's if you want a manual ... now Jag's six speed auto ... that's what I would like :spoton:
