The "drive by wire" throttle is great when it works properly.

I've heard the latest techno whiz bang device the automotive industry is working on is "drive by wire" brakes.    hmmmmm????

you'll find that drive by wire brakes have been in production for a while. mercedes benz are using it :ermm:

I don't think I want to buy that model merc.

I like a mechanical connection on something as important as brakes and steering.

yes, drive by wire steering is on the cards too.....

Its all part of the bigger picture to have actual working auto pilots (computers) driving a vehicle... With no mechanical pre-requisites the engineers are free to design the user interface with greater freedom. (joystick control?)

The interface to a computer controller is simplified dramatically also if the actuation system is self contained and only needs electrical control.

hmmm. These systems are OK as long as there aren't any bugs.

Gonna take a bit more time. (and money)

The automotive electronics industry has got a lot further to go yet to have the reliability to convince me. Throttle is one thing, as the fail safe mode would be throttle off.... coast to a stop.

BUT what is a fail safe mode for braking and steering???? :ermm:

Oil contamination of the throttle body has been linked to all sorts of idle/trottle problems...

I'd check this as well - there have been a few threads about this recently.

XR6 Typhoon I have a clutch problem in my NA 6cyl ute but only in the higher rev range and being a mechanic I know the feel of a slipping clutch but again ford keeps letting me down. They keep saying that they could not fualt.

I also have noticed hunting but only wheen I back off to say stop at a set of lights the revs go up and down around idle (250rpm-1000rpm) and often stalls. And gess what ford cant fult it :ermm::ermm::blush::glad:

perhaps check the breather hose again...when mine blew off, the symptoms were remarkably similar to the ones you describe...Perhaps it's just leaking?

Spoke to my dealer today and they said that they want a look at the car. They think they may have put in an update later than the B30??? upgrade put in in March and it may not have uploaded to the car correctly or that the software was :sh*t: to begin with. They say that there have been a myrad of updates since and want to load on the latest and see what happens.

They are also looking into replacing my brake pads along with the disks as I've got brake shudder again and the disks have been machined 3 times already. Also looking into why the brake pedal is rather stiff. This problem only happened about 2 weeks ago.

Does anyone think I should ask how much to upgrade to the premium brake system and insist on a big discount while I'm at it?

MY GOSH.............I have the same problem. I though I was just driving like a girl (no offence). Also I find when I have the air con running and if I depress the clutch so the engine starts idleignthe revs drop to about 200rpm for a second then increase to 750rpm again...............weird, me EF did exactly the same thing, it never got fixed

Given your statement above, what has 'running into gutters', 'loss of situational awareness' and 'reckless disregard' got to do this thread?

Doesn't hurt to ask. I'd be interested in their answer.
