A mate of mine who has a turbo rotary RX7 put me onto the link as he has had some dealings with PAC for his car.

He is going to have a chat with them and get some more details for me. I will let you all know what I find out.

It would be interesting to see the car prove the numbers on the track. If the valve springs were fitted to the this car I would think the cost has gone over the $3500 mark. As for my vehicle I have spent that sort of money on only intercooler and computer etc. and have pulled a 13.1 @ 109.48mph at WSID. Plus it was consistent, but I had to do the Auto upgrade and valve springs not long after. I am also in the process of doing injectors and fuel pump. The only problem with all the workshops is that they get the car in the door and by the time they leave the bill has doubled or even more. When I took my ute in I was told upfront what I would need and how much it would cost and didnt pay a cent more. The money is the most important but the after service is a must also. A very good friend of mine owns a respectable performance workshop and I chose someone else to do my work (Autotech engineering) knowing that they knew the ins and out of the XR6Turbo. I would hate to be a guineapig for anyone. I think Spiro knows these cars inside out and if its a couple dollars more, its worth every cent.

I would like to know if they are using Haltech, I use Haltech on both the XB and the XC, and I like the computer very much.....

It does have a lot to do with the tuner though. The best computer is useless if the bloke using it has no idea.....

The product being used on the PAC performance car is indeed a Haltech unit. This unit was recently advertised in a common magazine, and will be released in August initially for the BA falcon range, but quickly followed up by other makes and models. The unit performs very well, and I'm sure that here you all already know the car did a 12.8 pass at WSID with stock exhaust and fuel system. Having said that, we are battling against the same beast as the other units out there, so we expect similar result for mechanical mods, but hope to achieve it in a more accurately controlled manner.

Haltech has a close link with Spirro at Autotech as he is a dealer of our full ECUs. When we first started to experience the valve spring problems, it was with the help of Spirro's experience that we identified it. The PAC car was the first that caused us this problem. Spirro did the change as we needed it done quickly and Haltech is not setup for this level of mechanical work. I highly recommend Spirro for all his work as he is top notch on the XR6T and many other vehicles. Unfortunately we will also be in competition with the product he is using with great success, so we will see what the future holds for this market.

I didn't know that but I'm impressed.

This was done a while ago... I think 5/6/04. 12.8 @ 107mph I think. Auto sedan with the only mods being the Haltech Interceptor, and a marginally bigger intercooler... certainly not the biggest I have seen.

As you all know, the stock fuel system is not good for over about 250kw ATW. We pushed boost until it was as lean as we were happy with, and we were pleasantly surprised that it went as quick as it did. Traction was a problem with stock tyres, so there is a little more in it there also, but watch this space as we turn up the wick with a reasonable fuel system.

We do not claim to be pioneers here... just another option, and we believe we will have a few features that should be better than the other options.

I apologise if this is seen as advertising.... just wanted to answer the questions in this thread.

vosadrian,

Thanks for the info on Haltech and Welcome to the XR6Turbo forum :spoton:

I have seen and used Haltech in several racecars and found them to be great. What ballpark figure are you look at to sell the Haltech units ?

Does it replace the factory ECU or is it a piggyback arrangement >?

Hey Adrian,

Welcome to the site! Hope you can provide plenty of useful information to the masses ;)

Saw an XR8 out at Richmond on Sunday morning with Haltech stickers all over it.... one of yours I'm guessing?
