Ive had my T for almost 6 mths and almost everytime I line up against anything at the lights they dont seem to want to play.

Monaro, R34 GTS, HSV something, WRX - noone wants to play?! I hate this, I want to show someone whos boss and noone is even giving it a go. Once I think a WRX tried but he musnt have done a 5000rpm clutch dump coz I flogged him.

Do you guys experience this?!

Yep I get that sometimes. I've had the T for 10 months now, and I could say I have only had a handful of traffic light "encounters", each one I've won except of course the motor bike haha

Not sure what it was, but we went the first time, he wasn't ready for it, and I got the jump on him, and we were neck and neck all the way to about 110kph. Next set of lights, he says to me, ok mate now its for real haha And yep it was for real, he whooped me. He popped a wheelie at every gear change, this guy was fast! I knew I didn't have a chance but I just love the adrenalin rush and the acceleration!

But when it comes to 4 wheels, they seem to be reluctant to come to the party. I do 25000 kms/yr and alot of that is done in a reasonable amount of traffic so that's probably the reason.

Cheers

When we took an xr6T for a test drive (luckly the guy at ford didn't mind us going alone without him) we pulled up next to a clubsport R8 and although we would have been beaten, we started reving the car and the guy in the clubby just looked and did nothing. Mabie they are just scared who knows.

Yeah, could be scared of the potential consequences of playing dragsters on public roads! I know from personal experience that it's not an easy temptation to resist and a lot of people around here see it as a legit sport and part of the reason for buying a T in the first place.

Maybe I'm getting old, but I'll go to a track day or drag strip or similar if I want to race....less likely to end in tears.

Guess I'll get flamed for being out of step with popular sentiment, but I'll just have to wear that.

Ive had my T for about 10 days. in that time ive been booked speeding  (I was running it in on the princess hwy) and had a great run against a motorbike in the city. we were virtually neck and neck until we got to the lights. This is when he completely cracked me up by getting off his bike to have a look at the back of the car. ( truely a proud moment  ) however, your right most people  themselves and many back off very quickly in fear of embarrassment.

Had our car 17 months now, when we first got it all sorts of dickheads gave you a go,now the T has been around a while people know what it can do and dont want to get beaten.

If your younger looking, baby face voy, the youngies will prolly give you a go but when you look like Mathuzilla(Zeke) they tend to leave him alone

Maybe its just the fear of getting caught! My previous car was an FTO and within 3 months my licence was suspended as I was caught dragging someone off the lights. Cops pulled us both over!

I am a lot more "careful" these days, but it is hard to resist the odd encounter every now and then. I think people do respect the T more now than when it first came out. Each time I go up against someone and even when I'm in front, we pull up next to each other, and give each other the thumbs up!

Cheers

Err, Vik.....I'm not that old!!

Besides, when the Altzheimer medication kicks in, the nursing home's going to let me out in the T again on the weekends and I'll catch up with you guys for a cruise.
