As I am about to begin modding my T, I was wondering if either buying a replacement throttle body (SS Inductions) or getting the standard one bored out is worth doing. I have seen some great results on jap cars buy increasing throttle body size and was after some feedback.

Thanks.

A bigger thottle body would definately make a difference and I've thought about it over the last couple of weeks but I think I'd rather save the $700 and try for something from APS which would probably give you more gain. There is a fellow forum member here that has the throttle body installed on his N/A, maybe he could tell you more about it.

Interested to hear from anybody who has installed a different throttle body?

Am thinking about the SS inductions one also, as APS or anyone else that I know of, has released anything for the BA yet.

I'm pretty sure that Bara has an SS Induction throttle body.

It may be worth looking at some of the big horsepower engine on the forums, guys such as BCL, xlr8ed, Geea, Goldie (To name but a few) and see what they're using. I cant imagine that if they're running standard TB's (whether they are or not, I have NO IDEA) with their power levels that it would be a huge advantage on an otherwise stock engine. Especially, as Benny says $700 goes a long way towards a stage 1 APS or Nizpro Kit.

I have the standard TB. I dont believe that there is alot to be gained by changing it and as has been said there are much more cost effective mods for your $700.

Geea.

Think Im that guy with the throttle body on the N/A.

Standard is 70mm the SSinduction's throttle is 75mm, its not so much the power this mod will deliver its the responce. As far as power I did gain 10rwhp, cheacked on the C&V Dyno as all my mods are. What was said to me at C&V was "the throttle body works, we didn't think you'd get half that".

The car now comes to life in all gears 'BUT' the price this mod set me back $650 in parts (if you can get it cheaper from SS your doing better than me) installation was a b**ch (even for C&V)

Mine was also a bit more of b**ch with the micro switch for NOS mounted on the side of it.

Its a bit $$$ side for what you get, but for N/As theres just not much out there.

Tend to think if you you had a Turbo you'd talk to APS first. Has anyone put a 75mm on a Turbo yet?

SS INDUCTIONS 75mm throttle body on ours on standard turbo it does increase power.

But the big diference is in the way the power comes on a lot sooner even with the mods we have done.

I have driven barra's ute before and after and it does make a difference to the n/a's forshore.

So it adds a fair bit to the driveability of the cars then?

I know yours makes the Concorde like a Pintara Goldie

Increasing throttle body size would certainly make it easier to breath deeper on a naturally aspirated motor...... but for the additional cost, the benefit would NOT be as good on a forced induction motor.

If you want more oxygen... just increase the boost! best bang for buck solution.

Any of the chip suppliers can provide this solution.

My advice is save the money for a guaranteed performance boost you will definitely notice.

Having said that, a larger throttle body on a forced induction motor will probably make a difference when you are already at the upper level of engine mods....

ie already running 15 psi and have good free flowing intercooler and exhaust.

And you are looking for an edge over someone who has a similar setup, or you want that extra 3 or 4 kW to win the dyno shoot out.

just my personal opinion.

cheers
