I saw one of these after it had been over a railway crossign in Cranbourne. If anyone is from this area, its the notorious one on Narre-Cranny Road. Not sure of the exact speed it went over the tracks at, but they used to cut out at about 174km/h (calibrated speedo!). The chassis had bent about 15 degrees, the front of the pod had pushed the cabin roof in and the suspension was not quiet what it once was (one strut completely broke free of the mountings). They couldn;t get the doors opened and had to break windows to get out. These vans weigh about 2.2 tons becasue of all the counter-weights along the sides of the pod to stop them rolling over.Oops.Not easy getting a 2.2 ton ute airborne with the stock AU engine and running gear, but they did it and walked away to tell the tale...
