The guys using the xr8 under headlight induction setup.  Are you guys keeping the original airbox from your T and just adding another peice to run to the air box, or are you using the xr8 airbox also?

Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question I'm just having trouble picturing what you mean.

Yeh, using the whole XR8 setup, then adding the Turbo snorkel back on.

:spoton: Jame XR6,

That's exactly what I want. If it's not a rode ? what did this cost you from Ford dealer and did you need any other brackets to bolt filter body to body work.

Did you feel any improvement in throttle responce?

I'll order one tommorow.

I think it might make some diference, because you may have to have your car re-tuned after the CAI setup. - I think it best to do it first.

Mark.

yep... original box... 56mainline was the first one (as far as im aware??) to do this... if you flick through his posts you will see pictures of the set up (and a guide on how to do it... took me about an hour... very neat, very factory, very cheap and definately gained a couple a ponies :spoton:

jetute,

Do you think that there would be any throttle response gain using XR8 pod & filter

compared to the original XR6 box using a BMC filter.

Or would it be better to find a way to push more air into original box with BMC filter

It's the actual filter that gives you gain from what I seen from my dyno results.

I bought my set up at cost price from Ford and the adapter from BPT.

It takes very little to fit. I had to drill two holes in the body to secure the filter and that was it.

I also had to cut a 83mm hole in the side of the filter housing to mount the adapter to the XR6 snorkle.

If you dont want the hassle, buy BPTs as it already comes with the hole in the filter.

He will even send you instructions on how to fit it. Barry sends all his gear COD and is very friendly and helpfull if you need to ask questions.

Thanks Jamie XR6,

Did you feel the car had better throttle responce. (Barry claims 10 rwkw) compared to original box.

And did you try a better quality filter like BMC in the original air box before changing to your new setup?

Yes there is better throttle response and the engine seems to rev a lot easier.

I'd definitely recommend the BMC filter for it as well.

I know Barry's claim of 10 rwkws was for a XR8 with the adapter. Not sure what it does for the XR6T but it's possible that it could be around the same mark. I would say around the 5-7 kw mark.

A few of the guys on here have also adapted the XR8 snorkle to fit the standard XR6T airbox as well.

Yes I had a BMC panel filter in mine before I changed to the XR8 filter.

I honesly couldnt say that I felt a difference, just a little more induction noise so there was definitely better airflow
