Strange, that

Hi All,

I am currently getting a new diff and brake shudder repairs to my T at Klosters Ford in Newcastle. I haven't sold it yet, but that's a whole other story. I have a loaner for a couple of days while this is done. I thought you all might like to hear my impressions.

The dealer said "heres the keys to the car, it's just around the corner" I got all my stuff together and walked out side and to my surprise, there she was.

I thought they must have been joking with me, but no, these were the right keys for the rego details. I got into the beast and sorted out all my gear, all the while admiring the interior, from the nice CD player to the seats, the quality of the dash and the style of the car as a whole.

As I pulled out of the driveway I felt the power throw me back in the seat. Man, was it a rush. I don’t think that I have driven something with this much power for a long time.

As I cruise back out to the freeway I know that people are looking at me when I stop at the lights. They are thinking that I must be the luckiest bas*ard on the face of the earth. I revel in their jealousy. Sitting back, CD player thumping away and the window half down. I am a good looking bas*ard, and this car really suits my style. How lucky am I to get a loan car like this from Klosters Ford? They obviously think that I am a top rate customer to treat me like this. After pulling away from the lights, I try to squirt the windscreen washers and the guy in front of me pulls off the road onto the unsealed verge and so does the car in front of him. I wonder what they are doing? Maybe there was a sale on somewhere, or they knew each other.

The only real issue that I see with the car is that whenever I use the blinkers, the wipers come on. I’ll have to talk to the dealer about that when I take the car back. Must be a fault somewhere.

Back to it, and I merge into the freeway just in front of a semi, full of flattened car bodies. Stupid wipers are on again, but with this much power on tap, it’s easy to beat the semi into the lane from the on ramp. I think that the truck driver likes the car too, cos pretty soon he’s up beside me and looking the car all over. Jealousy’s a curse mate. Then I look down and see that I have slowed to 95. I must have mis-programmed the cruise control. Pretty soon I am back up behind the truck though and motoring along nicely. But jeez, the music is getting quite loud……

It’s then that I notice that the ‘cruise control’ stalk is actually the radio volume, and there seems to be no actual cruise control fitted. And some stupid bas*ard has gone and put the blinkers on the left side of the steering column and the wipers on the right. What sort of idiot would do that? I’ll have to talk to the dealer about that when I take the car back.

To add to my frustration, I also find that the seats have been installed opposite to what they should be and the windy knob to adjust the seat back is on the inside near the console, and not on the outside like it’s meant to be. I’ll have to talk to the dealer about that when I take the car back too. I turn into my driveway, wipers going flat out. After I park I try to squirt the windscreen again, but for some reason the high beams are flashing on my garage door. Strange that. And to wind up my window it’s backwards to what I normally wind it in my 4WD. That’s strange too.

All up, this automatic 2 litre Ford Focus CL isn’t too bad, but I’ll be sure to talk to the dealer about those problems as soon as I take the car back.

Andrew

PS. This is a joke, I just found it humorous that these things are different on the Focus, being a euro based car. It actually is quite a neat little runabout, although I couldn’t have one due to the above mentioned ‘problems’.

You Mongrel Andrew! You actually had me going there, I was convinced it would have been a GT, or a test/project car for the US or something similar! :3gears:

My guesses are that your getting your car fixed at Klosters Cardiff buy Paul Morgev. The lovelly piece of motoring that you are currently driving has been my drive car a few times. I have to say that they are quite a disappointing vehicle to drive and I don't how anyone could spend 20k on one. But it's better than walking or catching the bus I suppose.

Pauls the man Benny, but I doubt that this is the same car. Only done 3000ks and registered 30 March this year. Actually, I guess it could be the same car.

I was expecting something like a 92 laser, but I am happy with the Focus. No diff wine, no chance of a speeding ticket, no brake shudder but those blinkers are a pain in the bum. And what's with the windows winding in a different direction to normal? Is this something to do with the Northern Hemisphere, where the toilet water swirls the opposite way too?
