I'm getting sick of this. The local Ford dealer has been "at the next level with Ford" now for 3 weeks and still no action. Meanwhile I still have a dangerous engine cutting out problem every time I drive back from the mountains. Funny it never happens on the way up. I wonder again if the tank level has anything to do with it as Colbourns experience seems to indicate.Anyone else had experience with this situation where the dealer has made a full report to Ford and is waiting for a fix/reply? I had a PCM reflash (at least that's what they told me they did) and it seemed to fix that. I am now having a problem that when the lights are on and the engine is idling, when the thermo fans cut in the revs drop very sharply and the engine almost stalls. A couple of times it has stalled if I havent given the throttle a stab in time to catch it. Its rather annoying.I havent had any issues with overboost , to my knowledge. I might fit the pro comp autometer boost gauge I've been considering putting in.'nix

In other words after the TB clean they didn't do everythign up. Really really frustrating when this happens, second time now, but it woudl appear my surging is gone ....So I may finally have a pseudo fix.A. The car is actually driveable aroudn town becuase the whole thing was giving the gearbox the sh!ts too.Considering I typically leave the car parked and only drive it a few days a fortnight partially becuase on the kms I'm over on the lease, but also beucase it was nasty to drive with no fix in sight I'm now a happy camper, drive to work will be pleasurable no matter what car I take....A. HIPWRED Member 68 Member For: 21y 1m 5d Gender: Male Location: Brisbane, Australia Posted 23/09/04 03:24 AM Share Posted 23/09/04 03:24 AM One thing I note is a lot of you guys experiencing problems are in the southern/cooler states. Up here in QLD I am having no problems. Perhaps the issue is air density (and the ECU not taking that into account?) Just seems a strange coincidence that so many people from Victoria/Adelaide are having this problem compared to very few from QLD.Perhaps I'm wrong but its something that occurred to me.I am damned if I can reproduce the problem in mine, trying all the situations that are mentioned here. Maybe I'm lucky 'nix

Do you guys in QLD have 98 ron fuel. (eg optimax).I have always run on Optimax. Maybe I should try 95 premium? Only thing is Sheel doesn't have it in vic. Only ULP or Optimax. Hmmmm............ Guest rodxr6t Guests Posted 28/09/04 10:07 AM Share Posted 28/09/04 10:07 AM After four days and a couple of thousand Km/s I can confirm that the modified ECU has done the trick, there is no trace of the power loss previously experienced , the car is ow a pleasure to drive without wondering if you are going to have a head on each time you go to pass another car. Therefore if the spark plug gap alteration doesn't fix your car get the service department to contact the Geelong engine plant boffins.CheersRod The car has now performed faultlessly (in regard to the power loss problem) for a month and five thousand kilometres. Interestingly I got a call from my dealer today in regard to the modified ECU fitted to my car, Ford want to borrow my car for a week and see exactly why my car is now fixed when apparently others are not. Tomorrow Ford are bringing a replacement XR6T to Balllarat for me and are taking my car to the Geelong engine plant to look at.Another bit of interesting information for all of you suffering diff whine, my car is also scheduled for its second diff replacement and I was told that if this one didn't do the trick the modified version Spicers have been working on to solve this problem will be released one month from nowCheersRod
profrat Member 126 Member For: 21y 6m 3d Location: Eastern Victoria Posted 29/09/04 06:51 AM Author Share Posted 29/09/04 06:51 AM rodxr6tGreat to hear that yours is fixed. Did they give you any idea what things were adressed when they altered the ECU programing? From your last post it would seem that they are still not sure how they fixed it.Mine is booked in next week and will be worked on under the supervision (by phone) of the Ford Tech guys. They have given no indication to the dealer what will be done. One thing that worries me is that the Ford Tech people initially suggested that they would be altering the blow off by-pass and that this would reduce top end power noticably. Then they realized that it was a Jan 03 model and said that this was only being done to much later build cars. If there is one thing I don't want, its less power!!!!!!!! It could be very timely that they have your car in for reference at the same time. Fingers crossed.Cheers
