After dinner with the suprise guest last night I could do this too. I was already going to Indy - planning on going up from Coffs Harbour on the Friday, staying in Brisbane on Friday and Saturday nights. Was going to go to the track both days, but if you have something planned for the Saturday that could be on instead.

A really good run is via the back road to Grafton then the Summerland Way (back road) to Lismore. Then the slower but beautiful really back roads through Uki, Muwillumbar, Nimbin, then over the boarder through to Natural Arch then the great roads in the hinterland to the Coast. If the drive is what you are after and you want to 'use' your car rather then do a transport up the Pacific sort of trip this is the go. I usually go this way on my bike. No blue lights in sight.

Summerland Way is quite a nice drive. Especially if you keep on heading up into the Border Ranges towards Ipswich. You can cut back down into the back of Springbrook (Gold Coast Hinterland) easy. This is the Mount Lindsey/Warning area.

Awesome twisties and some nice road, generally uninhabited (including police) but there is some very skinny, very blind corners on one stretch. Logging Trucks are BAD :crybaby:

Another idea is to head literally ten minutes up the Pacific Highway past Grafton and drop into Ulmarra where I work. You can drop in for some lunch, I'll organise a feed at the pub or similar?or if 8 hours driving is a bit much, Accomodation? Plus much drinkies

From there you can take the Ulmarra Ferry across the Clarence to the back road to Lawrence. This ferry is one of very few Free Car Ferries left in NSW. With the huge Clarence River and ferry full (about 8-12 at a time) of XR6T's it would make a REAL NICE photo op.

Up the road towards Lawrence, you will get to 'Dead Mans Hill'. This is a pretty flat (unpatrolled ;) ) straight away about 6km long coming off a decent hill. There are nice paddocks either side with good visibility generally. From Lawrence you just jump on the Summerland Way anyways.

Let us know what you guys decide on if you want a NSW/QLD joint cruise effort.

Brendan, sounds OK. Haha, yes 8 hours is a lot. Mmm, drinkies :w00t2:

Amoffat, hmm, sounds good, natural arch mini cruise would be nice with the bne crowd.

Any parties, get togethers....etc. I'm trying to get a week off from Thursday 21st to Wendsday 27th.
