My reaction to first test drive in a T.......gotta get one of these!!!! Simple as that. IMHO, if it doesn't impress you, somethings wrong with the car.....or you just stepped out of an A55 AMG or similar.

That was similar to my reaction, "Where do I sign"

I thought it would be the case so I purposely avoided getting behind the wheel of a T until I was in a position to buy one - and the rest is history...

Trent.

Hi bigtrev

Way back in the mid 1980's I owned a very quick GTR XU1 (Bathurst Edition). It was capable of putting down 14.1 sec on the quarter mile, it pulled 65 MPH (approx 110 KPH) in first gear right through to 140 MPH in fourth gear. It was an extremely powerful, harsh, uncomfortable and at times difficult car to drive and forget about trying to drive quickly in the wet.

When I first test drove the BA Turbo I compared it back to back with a NA BA and a VY SS (all autos) within about an hour of each other and I gotta tell this was by far the most fun car to drive. Surprisingly enough I found the SS to have less power down low than the Turbo with even the NA not that far behind.

The point has already been made by Merlin that this car is deceptively fast. I took the test cars out on to the Highway and within a few seconds and about 3-400 metres the Turbo went from 80 KPH to 180 KPH and that car only had 70 KM on the clock. It sure didn't feel fast but the speedo doesn't lie.

I didn't know how long I would keep my licence in this car, but instead it has made me more conscious of my speed.

The bottom line is if you want a fast, smooth, economical and comfortable family car there really isn't any other choice. Just do it, you'll be glad you did.

Regards

Big AL

PS Sorry about the ramble, I just get so excited.

we never test drive ours, just ordered it.

The first thing dad said was "it gets to the speed limit too easy!"

To be honest, I was a little dissappointed with my first test drive - I bought one anyway. It wasn't until my first night out on the town that I realised exactly how bloody quick the thing was!

A couple of WRX's and an SS later, I realised that I made the right choice!!!!!

I saw a few T's on the road and I was like...what kinda ford is that  this was like mid-year 2003...so I went and looked at the car dealers and saw it was the new xr6.

Took an XT for a test....meh...ok..much the same power and feel as the current falcon I had...took an NA for a drive...much better.......but whats this T I see next to it. Took that for a drive but I didnt wanna 'put her through her paces' due to the dealer sitting next to me....

Me then joins these forums...meet a nice fellow called Vik...he comes over and takes me for a proper drive.........I get out the car and show him my hands which are shaking uncontrolably  and from that point on it was always going to be a T. :glad: Thanks for that day Vik.....you shore do give your brakes a hard time....especialy when you're going 90k's and those round abouts come at you way 2 fast!! go the premiums!!

But once I'd had this little t-rush I had to have more of it....so then I meet a fellow on here called Glen.....I confess that I need the T-rush so every friday night he'd take me out and calm my nerves. VROOOOOOM!!! thanks Glen - you made those waiting months bearable! :spoton:

I just love the smooth delivery of power....I dont like it in the ricers that many of my friends have that why u hit that 3000k or so... boost hits ...I like the delivery to be smooth and always know its there when you put your foot down.

Awesom car...I couldnt ask for anything more. Thanks Ford

Must admit in my situation the dealer was quite happy to show me how to properly drive the xr8 and T in successon (both manual and triptronic vers)... dont think I've ever had a dealer fang a series of cars out of the dealership, scream down the road and take corners like a bathurst race. He handed me the keys after each demo and said "Its your license, enjoy."

And yes a T is mine ... well technically the bank has leased it to me.... :spoton:

As for petrol... after the time I've had the car I can honestly same optimax is over rated. You better off getting vortex and stuffing in a can or two of tolerine.

and in the words of my dad who drove my T for the first time..... "ooohhhhhh yeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh."
