I haven't experienced it personally, but my wife has. The car was unable to maintain idle, car was shaking, and had no power.

She shut down, restarted, and then everything was OK.

Of course, I blamed her driving technique.

On a serious note, though,

I had a mixture of PULP and ULP in the tank - probably 20 / 80 respectively from the drive from Adelaide to Melb... PULP is NOT available in all country towns... especially the ones when you are getting low.

tank was reasonably emtpy, and for the trip back to Adelaide, I filled up with Shell Optimax... took about 70 litres.

The poor idle occured on the start up after about 10 minutes of driving with the new fill.

Just wondering if anyone recollects whether the poor idle occurs after filling up with a different grade fuel... or fills tank to capacity?

Like I said, after 1 year of use (12000km) it has NOT caused problems at any other time.

Tom, I mix unleaded and premium all the time never had a problem. Maybe where you got the fuel from? :spoton: I have been told that the premium fuel, in particular Optimax does not have a long shelf life, and if you are to buy it, always get it from large station that has a high turn over of fuel so as you always get the best quality possible.

Just a thought.
