newxr Member 279 Member For: 20y 11m 26d
As my black bird is leased I am limited as to the modifications. I have already replaced the original snorkel with a T snorkel (Its a NA - sorry) and will get a KN panel filter soon. The only other mod(s) that I can think which will allow me to return the car to stock without hassels relate to reducing engine bay heat - so any suggestions/recomendations1. ? Heat shielding tape on exhaust and intake pipes2. Heat shield for the air box (Has anybody done this)3. ?? maybe piping some colder air to the mouth of the snorkel - not sure if this will help4. ? a 12 volt exhaust fan system to remove the "hot air" - Some of the computer fans are quite powerful - 3-4 of these may reduce under bonnet heat5????As I said any suggestions etc most welcome newxr Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/11476-heat-shielding/ Share on other sites

Getting cold air to your intake is probably the best and cheapest mod with out installing an exhaust system. Not that true, that's because of a sh*t paint job.Goldie has painted the actual turbo charger with the 2 pack paint (same as the car) and it hasn't even started to flake/peel.
