Hi All,

I know the paint protection thing has been done to death. I also know most of u think it is :crybaby:

However.. my dealer is telling me about this Dupont paint protection... he said that there is NO contact with the paint when it is being done.. he said it is sprayed on and that it will NOT mark my paint.

I made a fuss saying that the car is to be Silhouette and that I am very worried about swirls and scratches with the paint protection, but he has assured me that it will be fine and that I can actually go there and see exactly how the process is done. What do you guys think?

interesting... I do not know too much about it... but if it is sprayed on does it fade or wear in the sun or when exposed to weather (the protection sprayed on)... if so does this happen evenly or does it fade/wear according to which part of the car gets most exposure to the weather and/or sun...... this might be a stupid way of looking at it but if this was the case, in the long run it would mean that you would get slight differentiation on the way the paint job looks.

Like I said I know nothing about it but it might be worthwhile asking

To be honest I wouldnt even bother. At the end of the day the dealer simply gets a 3rd party person to come in spray on the wax polymer. The dealer pays the 3rd party dude pitance and appropriately charges you a huge mark up (normally around a 1000% markup.)

The question you have to ask yourself is ... "How come a brand new car that has been painted using state of the art technology requires some third party polymer proctection? Does Ford stipulate that you must purchase this aftermarket product? Does this mean that Ford uses substandard paints on their cars?" Some how I think not.

The same goes for rust and fabric proctection. The dealer again gets some cheap 3rd party dude to spray the underneath of the car with some compound and spray the carpet/upholstery of your car with scotch guard!

And just think ... the dealer will offer you this fantastic "deal" for 2-3k. It only cost him a few hundred ...

Best known dealers rort. :w00t2:

There's a variety of wax's, glazes and polish out there, just need to use soem elbow greese. If you really want to keep that "just out of the show room shine" have a look around for a polish called "Final inspection." The liquid is pink in color and has an interesting odor. Cheap is isnt! :Imwifhim:

I had my car about 8 months before I got tint and paint protection which means I washed the car heaps of times before the franger came along,I must say there is a big difference to the feel of the paint finish..smoother..bird sh!t is a good example

Without, stuck like bird siht to car paint..with,just touch it and it flakes off so easily,

washing seems easier as well, and I found I didnt seem to need to wash it as often

Got a mystrey scrach on the front guard, some stupid b**ch with a shopping bag I imagine :w00t2: took the car back to this mobb, polished out the scratches, reapplied the stuff..they apply it by hand and rubb it in good, not a poxy spray hit or miss.. Didnt even charge me for it,so I bought a large bottle of the car wash they recomend to use.

Ive seen the diff before and after and I would do it again.the big diff is though,a mate knew the boss so I got looked after :Imwifhim: Its not what but who!!!
