Where does the Typhoon fit in the model structure?

Holdens model progression is fairly easy to follow ie

GTS sedan/coupe

C/sport R8/GTO

Clubsport

SS

SV8

each model more or less a bit faster and better equipped

Would then Fords models be.

GTHO (IF and WHEN)

GT

Typhoon

XR8

XR6 Turbo

Which puts F6 in direct competition with the HSV clubsport 285 kw/$60,000.and good for mid 13 sec 1/4s.If the Typhoon can match the clubsport in price and performance,it will be possibly Fords fastest car. This then raises the question of the GTHO.To be a true GTHO it has to be faster than any other locally made car to honour the tradition and certainly faster( and more expensive) than F6.That means 13 secs flat for the 400m at least..Perhaps the F6 lets FPV off the hook and no GTHO will be made.I hope that turns out to be untrue.

bcr01 gottagettaclassic! Yes this is the confusing thing about the Ford line up I,ve listed them in order of cost and you more correctly have listed them in order of performance which points to the F6 being good value compared to all of its V8 relatives.Maybe the F6 should be the most expensive car in the line up.

There's not going to be a BA GTHO. Because there is no correlation between road car & race car anymore, the need to build a high performance model has dissappeared.

The High performance scandal of the 70's has also guietly happened again.

The GT is a genuine Grand Tourer as it was designed to be. You can drive it 1000's of k's, get out and think lets do that again. You cant do that in an XR's or any of the Expensive Daewoo range.

Horses for courses. I love my GT

Personally I hope Ford use this turbo engine to create a new performance legend like the GT-R Godzilla. 300+ kw (understated of course) rear wheel drive, fancy paddle shift box etc priced at GTS level.

Forget a modern GT-HO that was the old days, the legend lives on because time has slowly added a certain mystique about the HOs of old. The more time that goes by the stories of the HOs become more and more glorified and the legend grows bigger and bigger.

I feel if Ford brought out a BA GT-HO a lot of people would expect it to runs crazy times stock from the factory at a reasonable price. What they really should do if they do it is make a limited run of 500 over 2 or 3 years at a high cost so the legend remains strong. It should be a car that you don't see on the road everday ala the new BA GT or XR6T and is an absolute rocket like the HRT 427 promised to be.

I consider My Precioussss to be a Grand Tourer in the true sense of the word.

I've never owned a car that is so comfortable, with such performance, delivering such a sense of safety over long distances before. <_<

I could easily drive from Sydney to Brisbane only stopping for the absolutely necessary breaks, e.g., fuel, bladder, food, etc. None of my previous cars has left me feeling so happy after a long trip.

:k24t:

I've done Bathurst, Nowra, Narooma and central coast several times in my XR8 and I gotta say, I could do it all over again. <_<
