IM looking at buying either an xr6 turbo or an xr8 but im am unshore I know most people on this site will tell me to get the T for ovious reasons. I drive a lot of short trips every day (not enough time for the engine to warm up) and I dont have time for the turbo to cool down after a drive im always late. I can buy either car at virtually the same price. can someone lead me in the right direction...

Hi and :spoton:

Lots of things to consider weapon.

Options:

XR6T: much easier to upgrade and get more power(currently)

XR8: That rumble is something special.

Fuel economy:

XR6T: is obviosly better but then again,

XR8: That rumble is something special.

Insurance:

XR6T: is cheaper than the XR8 but then again,

XR8: That rumble is something special.

Looks:

XR6T: looks great.

XR8: Well all I can say is sit in one and have a go at the bulge!!! :nono:

and

XR8: That rumble is something special.

Take both on test drives if you can but it must come down to personal preference.

I made my choice :nono:

P.S. That rumble is something special.

I was close to an XR8 purchase ... the requirement for Premium petrol got me a little (even though I will put Premium in my T) ... and after driving both the 8 is a little heavier over the front wheels and I could tell ... so a T it was ...

In stock form their is little difference the V8 sounds awesome (but so does my T) ... so all I can say is any performance falcon is a step in the right direction I say :)

jteale,

The XR8's don't have a premium requirment. The reccomended octane rating is 91RON or higher.

There is no need to cool down the turbo on the xr6t, unless youve been fanging the sh*t out of it. It uses a tricky syphon system that circulates water around the turbo when the car is turned off, the heat of the turbo causes the water to heat up and push it along the pipes. :spoton:

So your choice is now obvious. XR6T!!!!!!!!!

1. You dont need to cool the turbo in town, only at the track

2 If you LOVE the sound of a V8 forget the T

3If you want nill lagg forget the T

4 If you want a donk that just keeps going forget the V8

5 If you want to compare the two, dont ..one has 8 pots the other 6

6 If you want to do your self a favour test both

7 To get a decent sounding V8 youll need tractors and system=$

8 To have the best of both worlds get both ( my weekender XY 351c)

Id say the T would have better resale (and more potential buyers) than the 8.

I agree with the posts above.

T more fuel effic.

8 looks and sounds a smidge tougher. Less fuel effic and more expensive.

T doesnt need warm down, that's an antiquated notion old chap from the '80s

T is faster and handles better

Vik,

Did you say that you need to get extactors and a system to get a decent sound out of the V8????

My mate drives around in a 90k odd Caprice and I can tell you now it sound like nothing compared to my car.

My beast not the Hells Bells of V8's by far, but it sounds pretty damn good IMO.

Now a XY 351c...... That would sound a treat.
