don't know why you would want to do it because as far as I know the diff is handling current power levels fine.

Not true. My diff couldn't even handle the power from my unmodified car!

I somehow think they do not fit. :spoton: Costly job for a diff that is no stronger. If you want a strong diff. Strange Engineering or others can help.

Do you think it was the power of the car that caused the problems though or just the sloppy tolerances of the diff?

The diffs are bigger than a nine inch. To break it it must be under alot of stress. Any diff will fail in the end if overloaded. GTR rear end probably not a real good choice even with big power figured cars you have to remember they are 4wd and tend to share load between front and back. Also torque figures are at alot higher in the revs so less stress on the diff as the wheels are already turning. Not as much torque so quickly like the larger t engine.

I bet useless is glad he posted that topic, you people can be so unkind. I guess his logic is to find a stronger independent diff and the skyline diff has come 1st to his mind. There are some very clever engineers out there considering all the possibilities as the output of the turbo increases and some solutions may be found. In the 70,s the panel van set were partial to independent Jag rear ends and I.m not sure that that was an easy conversion!

Now think about what you just said tossil, what sort of rear end would you want in a panel van, apart from a shielas, all decent shagin wagons had the jag rear so you could do a decent job,you only got the scrubbers on the leaf springs, bang bang,*beep* *beep* ,see ya later.

Well Vik, when I think of Jaguar rears for the purposes you are subtly alluding to, I remember this old beastie - bit more style and class than the average shaggin wagon.....but, I gotta admit, a bit less room. Ahh, memories of when I was a lot skinnier and a lot more agile.

Just food for thought guys..My brother in law has just built an ac cobra with a Nissan gtr rear end and hes spent like $90000 doing it.I dont think I am out of line to make this suggestion ,but as always each individual is entitled to there opinion. His cobra is extremely quick...if your gonna do it right ....do it right...not *beep* foot around with differentials like the borg warners which I have laid to rest in the diff graveyard....
